Time Of Troubles

entries

The Time of Troubles started out with several unusual situations. The Visconti had united the City States of Italy, the Imperial Lords had lost their magnates titles to the de Valois, many troublesome sorts threatened the Christian Lands and Kingdoms. Among these were Turks, Mongols, Vikings and pirates.

During the first 20 years or so of this game the Visconti seemed to hold sway in many political arenas. The new Caesar of the Romans had oaths of fealty from Italians, Germans and even some few French and English nobles. There was a firm alliance with the Papacy. The King of France was, err arrested by Imperial Forces and willingly gave over several titles and other gifts to the Roman Empire. The Grimaldi family was very supportive of the Viscontis

Needless to say this influence was not appreciated by the other powers in the world. The French were resentful of their King's gifts, the English disliked the growing influence, the Kaiser conspired with anyone and everyone.

The Vikings made an appearance, Beorn the Beserk appeared. beorn lasted almost 20 years, and worked for anyone and everyone......for a price and at their own peril. He captured the pope who died from his torturing, un beknown to all that the Emperor had paid him for this task. And was the main thorn on English soil until his death at the hands of the Prince of England.

The Queen of England was very nasty and conspiring. She conspired with the Viking against her family, against the Visconti, and truth be known against herself. She met with a assassins knife, and no one was ever able to prove the source of her end. Many accusations appeared through the years, the French, her son, the new King of England, the Kaiser, and even the Roman Imperator, yet no one ever proved anyone's involvement.

It was not too long after the death of Queen Elizabeth that a relatively minor Celtic, Deburgh traveled to Ireland and united the island to revolt against the English. rule. Deburgh after several years of hard fought war, managed to become King of IReland. a title wich he held until the end of the game.

A time came when the Imperator was called to business in the east for a few years ( about 30 days real time) Upon his return he found his Power was in question the power had shifted to England. His loyal Grimaldis and English had not found their way back from the East.

England had built a very significant foothold in France, and the Empire. The Kaiser was in disgrace and powerless. The King of France was ill and unheard from.

England continued their expansion. In the Roman Land there rose rivals to the Imperators authority , funded by the English. Such as the di Firenze who wrested their ancestral lands from the Empire.

The Vikings continued their reign of terror in England and northern Europe. The Various threats such as Turks and Mongols came and went. Most poised no lasting threat to the Christian lands. It is worth noting that a Small underfunded Viking, Beorn the Beserk lasted longer then all of the large and wealthy hordes.

As item progressed the French awoke, but all their efforts were to little too late and the English were victorious. The Roman Empire ended with wealth and lands, but very little real power. The German Empire was crushed entirely.
