(REDWOOD CITY, CA) --- Konami of America, Inc., leading developer of electronic entertainment for the home video game and PC game markets, announces the first-ever appearance of its legacy hit, Castlevania, on the Nintendo 64 console.

Castlevania features all the action expected from this classic Konami franchise, but with an all-new cast of characters, a new storyline and an innovative 3D environment. Each character has unique abilities and will each yield two completely different story endings. Gamers can choose between Reinhardt Schneider, part of the famous Belmont vampire hunting family, and Carrie Eastfield, a 12-year-old girl with magical fireballs and bracelets. "Fans of Castlevania have been crying out for both an N64 and a 3D version for a while, and Konami is proud to announce that both are now available in one supreme title," said Jon Sloan, Konami Director of Marketing. "With a CD-quality musical score that sets the tone while playing and some of the most beautiful art ever seen, this newest version of Castlevania is the most expressive and impressive Castlevania game ever."

Each character has separate storylines allowing the gamer to explore the vault-like castle and surrounding grounds. Players are encouraged to play through all stories to discover the true ending of the game, offering excellent replay value. There are extra secrets and additional items and areas to find.

For example, time of day affects an enemy's powersduring the day, vampires are weaker and must hide in deeply shadowed areas. Players may also turn into vampires if bitten too often, which limits the type of weapons used and could end the game if a cure is not found in time. "Last year was the 10th anniversary of the original Castlevania," continues Sloan. "This new version is the 12th Castlevania product for consoles and truly takes the series over the edge. The 3D graphics, the story and the tried-and-true gameplay make this the best game in the series."
