All characters will be created with the following guide lines:

Some questions about character creation have gotten my creative juices flowing.
So I introduce our new rules of character creation.
I have broken states down into four major areas:

Thief Abilities

(Pick Pockets, Open Locks, Find/ Remove Traps, Move Silently, Hide in Shadows, Detect Noise, Climb Walls, Read Languages)

Non- Weapon Proficiencies

( Still use system located near bottom of Page)

Weapon Proficiencies

(The weapons you have and how good you are with them)

Ability Scores

(Basic Attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, Constitution, Charisma) You now assign each area a priority, this means how important it is to your character. Each priority cost a certain number of points for you to assign an area to it, your total priorities should add up to no greater then ten (10). You will get points to distribute to the area based on the priority you assigned it. The Priorities are as follows: 1. Cost 4 points 2. Cost 3 points 3. Cost 2 points 4. Cost 1 point The points you get to distribute are based on the priority the area was assigned. These points are as follows:

Thief Abilities

1. 65 points 2. 60 points 3. 55 points 4. 50 points

Non- weapon Proficiencies

1. 60 points 2. 48 points 3. 36 points 4. 24 points

Weapon Proficiencies

1. 4 proficiencies 2. 3 proficiencies 3. 2 proficiencies 4. 1 proficiency

Ability Scores

1. 85 points 2. 75 points 3. 65 points 4. 55 points How to distribute the points: Thief Abilities- You can distribute these how ever you want in to the eight(8) abilities of thieves. The rules of no more than half the points in to one ability and adjustment do to DEX., Race, No Armor and Kit still apply. Non-Weapon Proficiencies- Use the rules to distribute these on the link provided. Weapon Proficiencies- Follow the regular Players Handbook rules Ability Scores- Distribute these how every you see fit in the Basic six (6) Abilities. No score higher then 18 (unless adjusted by race or age) or lower than six (6) (unless adjusted by race or age). All adjustments for race and age will be applied after all points have been distributed.
  • Most campaigns are for solo characters.  This allows the character to develop more fully and to act in the pursuit of his personal goals.  For this reason, all characters must have a personality with desires, goals, fears, hates, quirks, enemies, friends, etc.

  • Applicants must be level 1 and may not be dual/multi-classed.

  • AD&D statistics (STR, INT, etc) will be used in the game, but only as a guide for the GM. After character generation, you won't hear much about them.  The emphasis is on description rather than dice rolling. In fact, you won't roll any dice, ever. I will handle the dice rolls.

  • No 'Skills & Powers' characters (I don't have the book).

  • Any thief is eligible to apply to join the Guild.  Any character story is acceptable.  All characters should have an area (or style) of thievery they specialize in.  Most adventures will be urban in nature, so think carefully before using the Buccaneer or Scout Kits.

  • Skills will be used, but should be woven into your character background.  Use the following as a guide to develope your non-weapon proficiencies:
    Non-Weapon Proficiencies

  • As skills are used or practiced, the opportunity to improve them arises when a character gains a level. Only skills which are used can be improved. Characters who undergo training will also have a chance of improving skills. However, use of skills under pressure is the very best way to improve skills.

  • All actions take place within the overall context of the Guild, so you will come into contact with many other citizens and guild members.  Be prepared to get involved and drive the direction of the campaign yourself.  The emphasis is on YOU, there is no overbearing Paladin to put a crimp on your plans for world domination!

  • Character Generation Summary
The following are required - name, race, sex, age, class, level, basic stats, weapon skills, non-weapon skills, and a detailed character description including background, personality, motivations, hates, and fears.  Please also supply a picture of your character for inclusion on the web site.

Remember, if your passions are killing giants by the horde, rolling dice and arguing with the GM about how the encumbrance rules apply, this game is not for you!!
