Tunics |
The Goron tunic. If you are planning on getting into the Fire Temple as adult Link, this article of clothing will be essential. O.K. Want to know where to find it? Allright, I'll let you in. When you are adult Link, go back to the Goron City. O.K., now hunt around until you see that little balled up goron. Now, throw a bomb at him to stop him in his tracks. Be careful though, if you throw it too soon, he'll turn around and go the other way unharmed. If you manage to stop him, he'll give the tunic to you. |
Now you're probably wondering, "Now how do I get into the Water Temple?" Well, today is your lucky day, because I will tell you. When you are old Link, go to the zora king's throne. Upon arriving, you will discover that ice blankets every thing. I mean anything that can freeze is frozen over. As you venture forth into the zora kingdom, you'll eventually find that the king zora is encased in an enchanted block of red ice. It is enchanted, so don't try to wait for spring. You have to first go to the Ice Cavern. In the Ice Cavern, you should find several pedastals of an ENCHANTED blue falme. you have to catch it in a bottle, and empty it out onto the red ice on the king. Since the ice is enchanted, it will melt the red ice. When the king is free, he will be so grateful, that he insists that you take the zora tunic as a reward. This tunic will allow you to stay underwater for unlimited amounts of time, provided that you have the Iron Boot, or else you'll just float back to the top. |
Swords |
O.K. Now we get to the fun part. The weapons!!! Before you do anything, you'll need the Kokiri Sword. Where do you get the sword you ask, well, I'm glad you asked. When you are young Link, and you are in the Kokiri village, you must go to the training area. At the end of the training area, there is a small hole. you have to crawl through it. on the other side, there is a small, and dangerous maze. Be careful whenever you turn a corner, because dangerous boulders come roling down the paths. at the end of the maze is atreasure chest. Open it, and you are now in posesion of the legendary Kokiri Sword!!!! |
Ahhhh. Now we get to the nity grity. The Master Sword!!! The most important sword in the game (and the most used). When you finally gather the Goron Ruby, the Kokiri Emerald, the Zora's Sahpire, and the Ocarina of Time, you must go to the Temple of Time. You must then open the door in the back. this is where you will find the Master Sword (and how you progress to old link). You then pull the Sword out of the Pedestal of Time. |
The Giant's Knife. One of the most powerful swords in the game, but unfortunately very brittle. One or two hits against a wall will shatter it into pieces!!! O.K., this is how you get it: When you are old Link, go to the Goron City. On the third floor, there is a room you have to use bombs to get into (you can get into the room as young link too). Inside, there will be a really, really big goron. He will sell it to you for 200 rupees. |
Ahhhhhh. the Biggoron's Sword. This, my friends, is the most powerful thing you can weild on the game. This Sweet peice of metal does twice as much damage as the Master Sword. Unfortunately, you must use this weapon with both hands, so you can't use a sheild. I'm sorry to let you down guys, but you don't just find the sword. No, you have to go through a series of trades to get it. The last trade, you have to go to the top of the mountain. A HUGE goron is there. he makes the sword, and it won't break. |
Sheilds |
The Deku Sheild. The first and most pathetic of the game. This is the only sheild you can have all throughout your childhood. The other sheilds are just too big. However, there is a point where you need the Hylian sheilld, but that's another story. You fisrt get it in the Kokiri Forest. You know, where you start out. You have to go to the only store in the forest, and buy it. it costs 40 rupees, so save up your rupees. So, what is so bad about this sheild anyway? Well, this is the only sheild that can burn. If it catches on fire, sianora sheild. you will have to buy another one. Or, sometimes, you can find one in a dungeon. |
The Hylian Sheild is your most used and sturdiest shield. There isw only three places you can find this sheild. You can buy it in the Bazaar (the market just before you come to the castle), the market in the Kakariko Village, or you can find it in the Graveyard. Unfortunately, i have never found it in the Graveyard before, so you are on your own there. Otherwise, it will cost you 60-80 rupees. Considering how useful this sheild will become, I think it is a wise investment. You will have to get this sheild while you are young Link, so you can get to the Great Fairy to get your first dose of magic. A barage of falling rocks will rain down on you as you make your way gradually to the top of Death Mountain. As you make your seven-year sleep, this sheild will remain with you, and all throughout the rest of your adventure. |
The Mirror Sheild is the rarest sheild in the game, and the most unique. This is the only sheild that can reflect light. Unfortunately, the only place to obtain this sheild is in the Spirit Temple. SO DO NOT LOSE IT!!!!! If you do, don't plan on using it again. You will need it in the Spirit Temple, which is probably why that's where it is found. It is just as sturdy as the Hylian sheild, but this one has an added bonus... Are you ready for this? The Mirror sheild can reflect magic!!!! The bosses of the Spirit Temple are the Twin Rovas, two whitch sisters. Reflecting their magic is the only way to kill them. |
Boots |
O.K., now we have finally gotten to the last sections of Links apparel...The boots. Yes, believe it or not, Link has an arsenal of different boots to help him on his journey. All of the boots Link owns are like the Mirror shield in the sence that they can't be recovered. So don't lose ANY of them. You begin the game with your Kokiri Boots, but the next kind you must get is the Iron Boots. Yes, you need Iron Boots. Have you ever notices that strange, under water gate in Lake Hylia? Even when the water level is severely lowered when you are adult link, you can't seem to swim far enough to get to it. a real drag. But wait, do not despair, there is a solution!!! Yes my friends, there is an answer. Can you guess? That's right, you need the Iron Boots. But as a word of caution, never try to use them without the Zora Tunic on. You will sink strait to the bottom of whatever body of water you use them in. You will drown without the Zora Tunic. The only down side to the boots is that you move very, very slowly. I mean, it has to be hard to lift those things! |
The last, but certainly not the least of the boots is the Hover Boots. Hermes himself would be proud to own these winged wonders. You can get these boots in the Spirit Temple. Believe me, you're going to need them. In order to cross the expanses of the bottomless pits in the Spirit Temple, you will need to use them to hover accross. Yes these have a down side too, I know. I'm upset too. But, I can't do anything about it but warn you. The Hover Boots are so light, that they have almost no traction. In other words, if you move one way, you will keep going that way for a while. It's like running on ice. So be careful around edges of pits and those bottomless holes. The other drawback is that the hover ability only lasts for a short time. Don't get me wrong, it gets you a lot farther than jumping, but it doesn't last forever. Just be careful. |
C-Button Items (young Link) |
There are many, many c-button items, so I hope your eyes are rested, because there is going to be a lot of reading to come. As young Link, you can get the slingshot that shoots Deku seeds. you can use this weapon only as young Link. You can find it in the Deku Tree. It is in a big treasure chest. To use it, you have to put it on a c-button. Hold the c-button to pull it back and aim, and release it to shoot. If you press c-up before you shoot it, you can manually aim from a 1st person view. |
The Deku Sticks aren'texactly the most lethal of weapons, but if youare planning on actually progressing in the game, you will need them. One of the reasons you will need them is because they are the only way to transport fire whhen you are young Link. What you do, is put the end of one of the sticks into a flame, and the Deku Stick will catch on fire. This is useful if you have to light a series of unlit torches. However, the Deku Stick won't burn forever. If you let it burn, you will lose it. But luckily enough, there is a way to save your Deku Sticks. You can relax, because I will relieve you of the burden of finding out how for yourself. You have to put the stick away (by pressing the c-button again) before it burns away. This way you won't lose any of your Deku Sticks. Another use for these items is damage. That's right, they are also weapons, but they don't make very good ones. In fact, I would clasify them among the worst weapons in the game. One hit, and these things are completely destroyed. They don't do that much damage either. If you do lose any number of these sticks, don't worry. You can buy them in the Kokiri Forest store, or in any bushes or tall grass, of anything else you can cut down, along with Deku Seeds, or Deku Nuts. |
The Boomerang is something to be highly treasured. This weapon can be found in Jabu Jabu's Belly. And of course, it is of most use in this level. The Boomerang is a little hard to aim, but if you use z-targeting, you'll be allright. If you have tried to kill all those electric jellyfish things in Jabu Jabu's Belly with your sword... Can you guess? That's right, you need the Boomerang. One of the things that make this weapon so great, is that it can be retrieved, and requires no ammo. What else could it be used for? Well, i'm glad you asked. Have you ever killed an enemy, and they left a heart off in the distance, but you couldn't get it? Well, if you hit it with the boomerang, it will carry it back to you. And congratulations, you have yourself more health!!! You can do this with most items. You can do the same thing with switches that you can't reach. Just throw this wonderful weapon at a swithch, and the switch is activated. |
The Magic Beans aren't exactly weapons, they are more like the beans in Jack and the Beanstalk. Just in case you haven't heard this story before, you have to plant one of the seeds on the ground, become adult Link, and a plant grows there. This will usually lead you to a piece of heart, or something of the sort. You can't plant these special seeds just anywhere, oh no. On your journys, you will come accross patches of soft ground. This will look out of place in the ground around it. The patch of ground is easily recognizable once you know what to look for. In order to obtain them, you must go to Zora's River. As you travel along the left bank. you will soon find a strange, white, sloth sitting in front of a gate you can't get by. Go up to him and talk to him. He will ask you to buy some beans. Do it. Each time you want to buy another one, the price will go up by ten rupees. So either make sure you have a lot of money in your wallet, or buy them one at a time. There is a patch of that soft earth i was telling you about right next to him. He will fill you in on how to plant them. |
The Fairy Ocarina is the first of your two Ocarinas. Unlike the Ocarina of Time, this Ocarina has no magical powers. However, you will need it to progress in the game. As a child, you will learn all different songs. You will be able to play them all as an adult. Some of the songs are "Saria's Song," "Epona's Song," and "Zelda's Lullaby." You will have to push a combination of c-buttons when you are in the playing mode. |
C-Button Items (adult Link) |
Pretty much the first c-button item you get when you are adult Link is the Fairy Bow. It is also one of the most useful items. It has the longest range, and is pretty deadly. There is also magic arrows that can be shot from the bow. But then again, what else would they be shot from? Well anyway, the magical arrows are the ice arrow, the fire arrow, and the light arrow. I'll go into more detail about them later. Like most of the other items, you are going to need this throughout the game. O.K., to get this, you need to be in the Forest Temple. As you travel around, you'll stumble into the center room on the 2nd floor. Here you will find a large chest. Open it and behold!!!! The Fairy Bow is yours. |
The Megaton Hammer is a very, very powerful weapon, if not the most powerful weapon in the game. You have to hold this Goron's "Special Crop" (hint: the Gorons you free in the Fire Temple tell you that you need the Gorons Special Crop) with two hands, because of its weight. So no defense for you. But put it away, and you can use your sheild again (as is for all weapons that you have to use two hands with)!!!! You are going to need the Megaton Hammer in order to defeat the Fire Temple boss Volvagia. in order to get the hammer, you will have to go to the 5th floor in the Fire Temple. When you enter, you will probably notice that the entire room is just a big spiraling staircase. As you let you eves follow the steps, you will notice a large chest at the top surounded by fire that is sprouting from the ground. Big problem there. How do you get by the fire?!?!?!?!?!? I'll tell you. Look around the area where you enter. Somewhere around there is a switch in the ground. Press that. A timer will begin after the fire that surounds the chest will dissapear. As you probably guessed, the fire will come back after the timer runs out. So dash up the stairs to the chest, and open it. Wala, you have the Megaton Hammer. |

The Hookshot is a very cool weapon. Basically, it is a big arrowhead attached to a chain. the chain can be shot out of it's "cannon," if you want to call it that, to a certain distance. It will always come back to you and requires no ammo. You can either use the Hookshot as a weapon or a tool. As a weapon, it will freeze most enemies, a lot like the Deku Nuts, so you can rush in and kill them. As a tool, if you fire it at something, it might latch onto it and pull you over to it. This will only work on some objects. If you aim it with 1st person aiming, a laser point will appear wherever you aim it, and it can go. Now I know what you are thinking, "How can I get my hands on one of these beautiful weapons?" Since I am such a nice guy, I'll tell you. Go to the Kakariko Village Graveyard, and go to the first grave as you come in on the far left. Now go behind it, and pull it back. Go into the hole that results. There you will find the ghost of Dampe (the late grave keeper). Dampe will want to race you. Now pay attention, this race will be pretty hard. What you have to do is follow Dampe as he leads the way to the end. DO NOT lose sight of him!!! He will throw flames at you to try to slow you down, so dodge the flames. If you follow him and don't fall to far behind, you will make it to the end in less than a minute. And that is what you need to do. At the end, provided you make it there, Dampe will give you the Hookshot. |
The Longshot is just a new and improved version of the Hookshot. It will go twice as far. It can be found in the Water Temple, wich I think is the hardest level in the game. When you get into the Water Temple, go to the 3rd floor and fight Dark Link. Afterwards, you will find the Longshot. |
C-Button Items (Both Young and Adult Link) |
Try not to confuse Deku Nuts and Deku Seeds. They are two very different weapons. You can buy Deku Nuts in the Kokiri Forest store, or you can find them by hacking away bushes and stuff like that. When you throw the Duku Nuts (by equiping it on the c-buttons and pressing that button), they will create a blinding falsh that will blind most enemies for a short itme. This will give you time to get in close to an enemy and kill it. |
The bombs are a very fun, and destructive. You won't get very far without them. You can get these weapons of devastation in some stores. The Goron store and the Hylian Market are a few. I suggest just cutting up bushes, long grasses, and stuff like that. It is much less expensive and easier too. But there is one thing you have to do before this. When you are young Link, you have to go to Dodongo'a Cavern. In Dodongo's Cavern, go to the room with all the razor traps shooting along the floor. Now, avoiding the razors, go to the far right corner. Now follow the passage that results when you pull back that gray block that is in the wall. You will come into a big lava filled room. go to the exit at the left wall. Continue to follow the passage. When you come out, jump to the other side of the room, and open the chest that is there. The Bomb Bag is yours!!! And it comes with a complimentary 20 bombs. Have you ever seen a cluster of brown boulders suspiciously sitting in an odd place? Well they are probably hiding something that you may want. Good thing you have the bombs, now you can blow them away, and discover their secrets. |
The Lens of Truth is a pretty cool tool. It isn't a weapon, but it uses up magic power. Don't worry though, it absorbs magic very, very gradually. So in other words, you don't really have to be conervative when using it. What does it do, what does it do... Well, it is hard to explain, if you haven't allready seen it in action. It allows you to see what is really there. It allows you to dicern the real from the fake. The actual object from an illusion. There are only three places where this will actally be of some use, though. The first is the Kakiriko Well, in which you obtain it. The second is in the Shadow Temple, in which you need it. The third is in the Treasure Box Shop. This last one is in the Market, but only at night. You have to guess which box the key is in, and open it. if you get them all right, you win a piece of heart at the end. Any way, this is how you get it: First, you have to be adult Link. Once you have learned the Song of Storms, go back to the Temple of Time and reinsert the Master Sword into the Pedastal of Time. When you wake up again as a kid, go strait to Kakiriko Village. When you are there, go to the Windmill. Stand in front of that guy playing the wierd crank instrument. Play the Song of Storms for him. The water in the Kakiriko Well will drain out. Go down to the bottom. Enter the level, and beat the boss. The boss is relatively easy. He is called the Dead Hand. The room you have to fight him in has several hands on the outside area. You have to go by one of these hands and let it grab you. Now keep calm. You will see the Dead Hand rise up from the ground in a tornado sort of thing. He will apraoch you slowly. Tap A repeatedly to escape from the grip of the hands, and before the Dead Hand gets a chance to run away, run up to him and strike him with your sword. Do this enough times, and he will die.Good job!!!! You have just won the Lens of Truth. |

The Bombchus are very helpful and unique in ther own way. If you liked the bombs, you'll love these. The Bombchus are moving bombs. They run in the direction you throw them in for a cetain amount of time. The longer you hold them, the less distance they run. They have mouse-like features, and are just as deadly as the bombs. They can even run up walls. In order to get them, you simply have to buy them. The only two places that you can buy them are both in the Market. The first is the Bombchu Bowling store. To play, you have to get the Bombchus into three holes. Depending on how well you do, you will be awarded a prize. One of those prizes is Bombchus. The other is a Bombchu Shop. It is only open at night, and in the backalley to Link's left. The prices are pretty steep though. |

The Ocarina of Time is an essential in the game. You need it to progress from childhood to adulthood. It functions just like the Fairy Ocarina, but is special. It has been handed down in the royal family for generations. You have to play the song of time when you get to the Temple of Time. You get the Ocarina of Time when you have collected all the Spiritual Stones, and go to the castle. Before you get in the gate, Zelda will come riding out, and toss the ocarina into the moat. you have to go and get it. |

Magic C-Button Items |
The Fire Arrow is really cool. It will light pretty much everything it touches. It will use up two magic points every use, but that is not a lot, so don't worry. It works just like a regular arrow, but is much more powerful. In order to get it, you have to first beat the Water Temple, and have the Water rise to its normal level. You then have to swim to that island in the middle of the lake. If you read the inscription that is on the stone there, it will tell you to fire an arrow into the sun. This may strike you as odd, but do it anyway. If it is still night, you can play the Sun's Song to bring the sun back up. If you do what I have just told you, a fire arrow will fall down from the sun, but don't worry. You should have no trouble finding it. |
The Ice Arrow is a lot like the Fire Arrow. It uses up the same amount of magic, and of course, it is shot as an arrow and is just as powerful. But this one will freeze your enemies, hence the name. If you want to get it, you have to first have the Gerudo Membership Card. You get that by freeing all the carpenters in the Gerudo hideout. Anyway, you have to go to that door, that is guarded by a gerudo, and is on ground level. This is the Gerudo's training area. If you successfully beat the course, you will win the the Ice Arrow. |
The Light Arrow is the most powerful of all the arrows. Of couse the power comes at a price. It uses up four magic points instead of two, like the others. It charges up your arrow with the power of light!! You need this arrow to defeat Ganondorf at the end of the game. But to get it, all you have to do is go to the Temple of Time when you have completed all of the temples , and Zelda will give you the arrow, eventually. This arrow will freeze Ganondorf for a few seconds, if you fire it at the right time. |
Din's Fire. It is not considered a weapon, but most certainly can be one. It is more of an offensive sheild. If you are surrounded by enemies, and there seems no way out, use Din's Fire. It will kill them all. It takes up six magic points, but if you use it wisely, it is not wasted. If you want to get Din's Fire, you have to go to Hyrule Castle, but don't go in. As you travel the path to go to the castle door, you will notice that there is a dead end that branches off to the right. At the end, there is a boulder. You have to blow it up. The Great Fairy inside will give it to you. |
Farore's Wind is very useful. It is neither a weapon or a sheild. It is an escape. Farore's Wind will transport you to another place. This should be used when you are outmatched, and need to get away. When you warp, if you use Farore's Wind again, you will have the option of warping to your previous warp point, or destroy that warp point and create another. It also uses six magic points. To get it, you have to go to Zora's Fountain as young link. On the back wall of the fountain. This little penninsula seems to be bare except for a few rock, some trees, and a few bushes. You have to blow up the rocks, and open the Great Fairy Fountain that lies within. The fairy inside will give you Farore's Wind. |
Nayru's Love is very, very helpful. It is a sheild that lasts for seveal minutes. Nothing can touch you when you have this on, and you can move around while you have it on. But, just like the Light Arrow, power comes at a price. It uses up twelve magic points. If you want to get it, you have to first go to The Gerudo's Haunted Wasteland. Near the Oaisis, there is a crack in the wall. Blow it up and go into the Great Fairy's chamber. There you will get the Nayru's Love. |
