When night came I heard him again. Whispering my name inside my head, calling me to join him. But I dare not leave the safety of my world. It was peaceful and serene here but when night came the wind would howl, the shutters would slam and the trees creaked as their huge branches bowed in the gale-force winds. But amongst it all was his soft velvet voice calling me, seductively calling my name. My heart raced as he appeared outside my window, staring at me with his sea-green eyes, his hair swept across his face, it was the colour of death itself, black as the night and his skin was whiter than virgin snow. His beautiful smile and his eyes begging me to step outside for a moment, just a moment, that's all it would take.
I knew what he was. I met him on a still night watching the waves crash monotonously on the shore. He was mesmerised, by what I don't know. I wish that I had never stopped to chat, but it was as if he was waiting for me, wanting me to talk to him. But why?
Ever since then, every night at dusk, the wind starts to howl and after the sun goes down he is at my window calling me.
The first night we met I touched his face, it was so cold. It was colder than ice as if he was dead, but there he was before me gazing into my brown eyes. I would always be safe with him. I felt like no one could hurt me. He was so reassuring, so sure that if I joined him there would be nothing to fear but the dawn of a new day. Who was he? A black angel? No, he was a vampire, his name was Justin. It was nearly his 300th year as a vampire and yet he was still alone. He said he had never met anyone like me. Justin said my soul was at rest and complete. Just what he had been looking for in an eternal lover.
As I moved towards the door his voice whispered inside my head "see your last dawn, remember it, hold it clear in your heart. I will return tomorrow night." With that he was gone into the heart of the night. My wait had begun. The wind settled and the trees rustled softly in the now gentle breeze.
I waited for dawn to arrive, it was beautiful. Dashes of pink slowly touched the sky, apricot soon followed gracing it with a golden glow of love. This dawn would be painted in my heart forever, with all its beauty and love.
I slept all day in preparation for my new life ahead of me with Justin.
Dusk rapidly approached as if something or someone else wanted the day to end. I chose a black lace dress that flowed around me. The dress seemed to have a life of its own. As I admired myself in this wedding gown of death I heard familiar sounds.
The trees began to rustle with a new vigour. A black wedding was
about to take place.
"Natascha" his voice whispered, "Natascha, are you ready to join
me?"
"Yes, I am here, I am ready." My voice quivered as I opened the
door I realised how warm and soothing the wind was. Justin was there
and he was waiting for me, smiling at me like that night at the beach.
There was no moon in sight but I could see his face clearly as any other
moonlit night.
Justin enveloped me in his smoft black cloak and softly kissed my neck. As his teeth pierced my ivory coloured skin I could feel the my life being drained from me. I became as weak as snow on a hot day in his arms. A new life had begun for me, one of death and brutal killing. Did I want this? Of course I did, I wanted everything he had and more. I became eager and hungry with anticipation for the life he lived.
Justin pierced his own skin at the wrist and told me to drink. I tasted the warm flowing blood in my mouth. It was strangely sweet as it filled my appetite quickly. The change from human to vampire was tiring. He swept me off my feet and took me to my new home. There was no turning back now I realised. My soul was burning, I could feel the change in me, it was growing, like an out of control bushfire driving through dry, dense forest. Becoming more and more dangerous and deadly as precious minutes ticked by.
Everything I looked at I saw in a different way, no more sun rises or sunsets and no more life. Only death and violent killing for both survival and pleasure interested me now. Endless bloody nights and slumbering days until the end of time. We are together forever, with no thoughts or feelings for mortal man. The night is ours for the taking, who can stop us? No one, not even God, if he truly exists. We are invincible, we will feast upon your mortal souls. There is no one stopping us, we are here forever and we are not alone. So when you hear the trees churning in the forceful winds of the night lock up your doors until dawn, or we will find you and destroy everything good about you and your life.
Feel free to me and tell me what you think.
