I started reading Agents of Light and Darkness by Simon R. Green yesterday, in between working on this page. It's the second book in the Nightside series, which I've only recently become interested in.

The mix of elements in it—subtle horror and comedy, outright absurdity, fantasy, and twisted realism—is a real attention grabber, at least for me. They're blended in such a way that it comes across as funny and interesting, instead of ridiculous.

Of course, my opinion stems solely from reading the first book and about a third of the second. I may write more once I finish it.

I added settings for the page titles and the horizontal rules, and tested them to see how they'd work out. They worked out pretty well, as far as I'm concerned.

I've redesigned my homepage. I plan to eventually get to the rest of my subsites, but for now I'm content with having the site looking a lot better than it used to.

The site has also undergone a name change. Instead of KnyteHawk's Contradition to Occam's Razor, which was this site's name for well over a decade, I've decided for something a little simpler:

KnyteHawk's Place

It's simple, descriptive, and to the point. Can't really ask for more than that.

I wish GeoCities allowed for PHP, because I could do so much more with access to a server-side scripting language. As it stands, every time I make a new post I have to make a new page specifically to show it.

I could have gotten around that with Ajax, but Ajax on GeoCities tends to be a little twitchy... kinda like the basic SSI it uses. Using Ajax to load the posts was originally the plan, but I wanted to keep things as simple as possible on the user end.

I have to do a little more work every time I make a post, but there is less that can spaz out, as a result. Of course, me having to do more work for each post encourages me to post less than I otherwise might.

Not that that is a big thing, since I have no idea how often I'll update this. We'll see.
