ABOUT THE WEBMASTER
The Webmaster

JULY 4, 2000

Hey there! Geez, it seems like forever since I've last done one of these updates. And in all honesty, it'll probably be ages until you see the next one.

I'm over half-way through my fourth work term. This time, I'm a technical writer at Medialinx Sympatico-Lycos in downtown Toronto. The commute's a real drag, but the environment is nice and it's pratically next door to the Eaton Centre.

One of my goals this summer was to go out a lot more than usual. The beginning of the term started off on a good foot, but I guess everyone's busy these days. My next major outing will be the Savage Garden concert in August. I'll be going with two lady friends of mine.

Last work term, I had a co-op job in the marketing department at a successful start-up computer software firm called Delano Technology. As a Marketing Co-ordinator, I had several responsibilities including Internet research, investigating promotional opportunities, producing weekly graphs and charts, data entry, Intranet updates, and I even had a brief stint as being the receptionist! It was my first experience in a fast-paced working environment, but the experience was invaluable, and my co-workers were very warm and supportive.

My first two work terms were at Human Resources Development Canada, a branch of the federal government. I was a Web Designer/HTML Coder for their various Intranet sites. It was the perfect first job, and it was there that I honed my skills in Web page creation and design. I believe I was spoiled -- so much so I returned for a second stint -- that all subsequent jobs have and will be compared to those work terms. My managers were ultra friendly and personable, and always encouraged me to learn as well as perform the job at hand. It was especially great once we got all those neat development toys tools to play work with.

Please feel free to e-mail me. I always enjoy receiving mail, but not those forwarded junk messages. Yeck, I can do without the lame jokes and chain mail. If you do write me, please make it meaningful. Thanks!

Till next time..!

PROFILE

For those of you who don't already know, my name is Chi-Hung Ta, the webmaster of the Fanatics' Tower. I'm studying Math/Business at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. I'm currently in my third year . . . I'm a junior!

Some of my interests include . . . well, I've pretty much provided links to them all on the main page, but in terms of hobbies, I like to draw, write (poems, songs, stories, etc.), play sports (volleyball, soccer, hockey, etc.), and sing using my developing karaoke talent. I also love video games, though between school and work I don't find much time for that anymore.

One of my new year resolutions is to work out at least once a week for the entire 2000 year. I succeeded for almost 4 months when a seriously nasty flu invaded me and knocked me out. Then it was final exams to study for, and now that I'm working full time, I haven't really gotten back into it. Hopefully I'll be back to my routine in the fall at the latest.

A little known fact about me is that I'm a master impressionist of many voices. I can't really do them upon request, they're more spur of the moment type things. I specialize in cartoon and muppet voices.

You can sample some of my creative works in the adjoining pages. All artwork, music parodies, and poems were created by yours truly unless otherwise stated. Believe it or not, most of these works were produced from some form of inspiration. Nowadays, I'm too busy to be inspired by anything other than sleep. Anyhow, enjoy!

Oh, in case you're wondering, the music in the background is the theme to Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. It starred Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher and is my favourite show of all time. In fact, (Dean's portrayal of) Clark Kent was my role model through high school.
