Group 1

Background Story

PRELUDE

They were earth's elite. Economic powerhouses in their own right. For five years they were trained in the use of their powers inside a giant ship docked on the moon. The ship was called Goliath. The team was called Group 1.

After the Onslaught saga of the present Marvel Universe, which "killed" almost all the major heroes like the Fantastic Four and Avengers, a need for superheroes was needed to fill in the gap that was created by the tragedy that was Onslaught. To control the chaos that ensued, Group 1 (who was backed by almost limitless resources and technological wonder by an entity unknown to them) finally made their presence known to the general public. First, by containing the fires, sentinels and riots that plagued earth, and second, by keeping their flying base fortress/headquarters--Goliath(think ID4 type ship, only bigger--gamemaster) that is now hovering over NY from falling on top of their heads(see next paragraph). Apparently the ship suddenly went rogue. (see GROUP2 (7th paragraph on PRELUDE)for a more detailed view/perspective of the incident)

It was later revealed that the ship, Goliath, was actually a longtime last-of-its-kind living techno-construct enemy of the Shi'ar empire cloaked near earth for centuries. Thus while a battle ensued in the streets of NY between Group1 and Group2, due to a misunderstanding, Gladiator, the Shi'ar's champion, struck a destructive blow on the giant ship Goliath's antigravity system! The ship reactively rendered Gladiator helpless with a unique radiation beam. Thus, Goliath was on a freefall towards most of NY. All the heroes from Group1 and Group2 , even some supervillains, banded together to stop it from falling.

The strain was too much…even for the combined efforts of all concerned. Slowly the ship was still falling and each passing moment was crucial. Toti tried to fix the damage, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Crackshot, who was held prisoner inside the ship (see Group2 perspective) managed to temporarily "meld" with the ship, giving him partial access to all its systems. With this realization, Crackshot freed himself, activated Goliath's self-destruct mechanism and teleported it to the far side of the moon where it exploded, taking with it chunks of the moon itself.

The whole city seemed to come to life as they rejoiced that an impending disaster was averted by these new heroes. The celebration only lasted for less than a minute.

The sky suddenly went dark. Electro-magnetic storm brewed across the sky as two giant god-like beings descended and hovered above the city. There was silence. Then what seemed like thunder was actually just the voice of one of the entities. He said: " Why?! Why did you destroy our precious artifact?" (he was talking about Goliath) "We have entrusted it to you we have…" before he could finish his sentence he was cut off by his compatriot "Less talk my brother just kill…destroy!" He clenched his fist, and electro-magnetic pulses coursed around it.

Toti and some of the heroes tried to reason to the gods…but to no avail. After all why would these "gods" listen to insignificant insects they thought. X'org, the one with the clenched fist, was going to eviscerate NY city when his brother, G'rox, stopped him "Wait…" he said "I sense something…yesss. It would be for our own enjoyment if we do not kill them…for now" He turned towards his brother and gleamed . X'org understood what his brother meant as he sensed it too. They looked at each other and said in unison "This would be fun" A blinding light sparked where the "gods" were and then they were gone, the clouds soon dispersed.

What does it mean?

That was probably what the heroes thought. Something that will bother them for some time. The cleanup and introductions that came later went quickly. But for now Toti and his group 1 must reorganize themselves, think about their future, more specifically where will their next HQ be? What will their future be in this world without heroes? What are the implications that these gods, albeit somewhat childish, want to convey?

There are no answers for now for they know that their adventures as superheroes have just begun!

ACT 1

Group1's HQ is now in Manhattan. A high technology wonder . But to the rest of the world it is a symbol of peace, justice and freedom.

The team, Toti, Cross, Dark Wraith, Bonecrusher(a member of GROUP2, on an honorary membership to GROUP1) and Prince Drakken, was en route to their HQ in a limousine when a monster traffic jam struck them. It was odd, they thought, it's not even rush hour. Odder still was when they saw several people parading the streets…with no clothes on! Some danced, some were violent and started breaking things, but some people doesn't seem to be "affected". The situation got a little complicated when Toti started exhibiting the "crazy" symptoms. This was most definitely a job for Group1 to handle.

Everything was going well, as the team tried to get the people out of trouble. That was until Hero Buster showed up with his nasty guns! He was wearing a prototype suit designed by Veritech industries, a rival company of the team. One of the gadgets enables Hero buster to suck anyone to an alternate dimension(think Ghostbusters only it sucks heroes). In the course of the battle that ensued, Cross was unfortunately sucked into the aforementioned alternate universe. All this was going on while the team tries to calm Toti and some civilians.

Eventually, the team managed to stun Hero Buster. Turned off his suit and accessed its onboard computer in the hopes of finding a way to bring back Cross from the alternate universe. Prince Drakken, Bonecrusher, and Dark Wraith went to the Veritech industrial complex off NY island to investigate the Hero Buster's source of power. There they encountered little resistance, except maybe for that laser scan that seemed to scan more than metals. It was subtle, but it was as if something in them was taken. (their DNA code. For those who are curious--gamemaster)

Strange, they thought, no one was guarding the facility. In a matter of minutes, with a bit of computer tinkering, they were able to reverse the process that sucked Cross to another dimension and at the same time garnered a clue as to what may be wrong with some citizens. With this crucial information, it was imperative that they get this information to their HQ computers to be analyzed. Prince Draken, blessed with super speed went ahead to their HQ .

An hour passed, and the solution to their problem was solved. Someone poisoned the water. And to their disbelief it was Mephisto! In order to reverse the poison they must drop the antidote in the waterworks. That is after they have defeated Mephisto.

Another battle ensued. Bonecrusher, Cross and Prince Drakken were going head-to-head with Mephisto. But in the end the heroes prevailed, with the realization that the enemy that they battled was just a clone. Later the heroes poured the antidote into the waterworks.

While Bonecrusher, Cross and Prince Drakken battled Mephisto, Toti, treated with the antidote of course, Dark Wraith and a new ally, a powerful vampire named Baron Bloodbath helped with crowd control. The media arrived, April O'Neil, the lead reporter, was rendered unconscious by Dark Wraith who reasoned that she might be hurt if allowed to report on the incident. Why did Dark Wraith do such a thing? Did she do it out of compassion? Perhaps. But there is more to Dark Wraith's intentions that even I-- the gamemaster do not know.

Later, they were proclaimed as heroes once more, garnering more popularity than ever as more people support their cause. But who is this mysterious vampire that joined them from out of nowhere? What's with all this blood sample, DNA thing that's been going on? Is it somehow related to this mysterious vampire? And what's with all this power failures that they've been getting in their HQ, the high tech wonder of the world?

As they began to turn in for the night a terrible realization dawned on the team-- Dark wraith's power suit, the one that keeps her alive -- was gone! Data that the team retrieved from their computers indicated that it was Crackshot from GROUP2 who infected their systems with a nanite virus that caused the temporary power failures thus bypassing Dark Wraith's room security.

**(But how can it be you may ask when Crackshot was taken prisoner by the Mutant Liberation Front in ACT 1 (Part1) of GROUP2?--gamemaster)**

Their struggles were just beginning as the plot thickens!

End of Act 1

ACT 2

Dark wraith in a coma? The team dumbfounded by the incident, just couldn't believe that Crackshot would do such a horrible thing. Even Bonecrusher, Crackshot's teammate, couldn't believe his own eyes as they replayed the events over and over again from their HQ monitors.

Their analytical minds on overdrive, they tried to piece the events together when suddenly the alarms went off.

Several superpowered villains were on a rampage…just across the street from their HQ! The villains were Destroid, Thunder clap and Herculoid.

A furious battle ensued beneath the streets of NY that involved The Baron Bloodbath, Cross and Toti. "Clash of the Titans" the media called it. Property damage was high and the media was there to question, for the first time, the methods of these so-called heroes who seemed to cause as much damage as their adversaries.

The battle was furious but the heroes won, anyway. Victory was still fresh on their fists when a sudden sonic boom knocked them for a loop. It was Hard Rock, armed with his guitar.

The slugfest was short and sweet so to speak, as they took out Hard Rock, who apparently was still under the effects of the poisoned water. To be safe, the team took Hard Rock to their temporary holding cell in their HQ.

The team composed of Toti, Cross and the Baron Bloodbath were diagnosing Dark Wraith's ever dissipating condition when the building alarms went off. INTRUDER ALERT!…INTUDER ALERT!…Building defenses breached! The monitors showed six broods approaching Hard Rock's cell.

The team responded immediately. And again, still weak from their previous battles, duked it out with the aliens only to discover that these Brood were different, tougher. These were Brood Mutates or Mutant Broods. And they also discovered they were too late to save Hard Rock. The Brood have apparently injected him with some sort of organism. The team was about to finish off the last of the Brood when the alarms went off again. On screen they saw several (50) other Broods drop down from a dropship that was cloaked directly above their HQ.

The assault was fierce as the Brood Mutates savagely tore their HQ from all directions. In a short while all power and communications were down and the heroes were barely holding their own. In the process, the Broods finally managed to stun the Baron Bloodbath and Toti and got from them---blood samples. In a short while they regained consciousness and battled some more until they theorized that there must be a control center up the dropship. So the team focussed their assault on the dropship. Destroyed its control base and the rest of the Brood evaporated, the dropship falling!

The dropship fell on top of Group1's HQ and slowly slipped…heading towards the direction of innocent bystanders below. With a combined effort, Toti, Cross and the Baron Bloodbath diverted the dropship towards the nearby lake thus preventing another disaster.

Later, the team no longer needed to heal Dark Wraith from her death slumber… for she was nowhere to be found!
