 Due to defense bugget cut backs the trim
and efficent Special Boat Service was absorbed into the Special Air Service
at the squadron level. The SBS reclaimed their old WWII title the Special
Boat Squadron. The SBS is made up of four Troops which are part of the other
SAS Squadrons. The SBTs are almost identical to the Navy SEALs, and they
usually train with the SEALs as part of the Team Tasks over seas training
project. The SBT personnel, refered to as SC
(Swimmer Canoeists), are always drawn
exclusively from the Royal Marines. The SBS has also been merged with sections
of the Royal Navy Bomb Deposal Diving Team to form the elite MCT (Marine Counter Terrorists).They can board or
sink any ship, overtake any oil platform, and sneak up & down any river.
