Time Space Ring: An explanation of the Teleport Ring

Imagine this; You are standing in a field, no trees in site, then a small
golden sphere appears before you. The sphere grows, larger and larger, untill
a tiny hole appears in the middle, thus giving it the look of a doughnut.
You look through the doughnut, but you see tall trees, like looking into a
mirror with the wrong reflection.
about a minute later the doughnut has grown into a ring that looks somewhat
like a huge hoolahoop, now the ring is large enough for a six foot person to
walk through without ducking.
You now have two choices. the first, walk away, most people will not
believe your extraordinary story. Or you could step through, the ultimate
adventure!

There are two confirmed Teleport rings. One in the United States, Indiana(the portal Travis Torric found), and one in England, Salisbury Plain, Stonehenge, (The one Talkon found). There is a posibility that two other rings exist, one in Africa, one in Austrailia.How do the rings open?
A Matter of Nature, Magic, and Technology
It hasn't been determined whether the portals were created by Technology (Such as by aliens, or an ancient race), Magic (Such as wizards and Shamans), or if it is a naturaly occurring phenomenon. One thing that is sure is that Magic, technology, and nature are all able to open these portals (i.e. Travis Torric opened a portal with a graviton emmitter, Talkon opened one with a magic spell, and the portals open themselves durring summer and winter solstices)Opening a ring with nature
The first way the portals were opened was by nature. The North American portal opens when solar radiation hits at a certain angle. The portal would open at Noon, every day, for a week. On the firstand last day the portal opened up with a hole about a foot in diameter. The size of the portal would climax on the fourth day, the summer solstice, then shrink away. Now the portal only opens on one day, the summer solstice, due to pollution. The Europian portal opens on the winter solstice, the day before, and the day after. It too used to be open for a period of one week, but does not due to pollution. Originally there were eight rings. four greater, four lesser. Long ago, the universal magical ether around Earth was intact, And many people were gifted with the ability to cast magical spells. There was also Earth magic, usable by Druids. Earth magic was powerful, but the variety of spells was limited. There was another type of magic, Shadow magic, aslo known as dark, or Black Magic. Black magic was only obtained by dealings with evil spirits, and the price was steep. Talkon obtained black magic by tricking others into forefiting their souls. Talkon's own soul was commited to darkness when he died.Opening a ring with technology
With the ever increasing Human population, the universal magical ether thinned around Earth, only those with great magic power could cast the weakest of spells, such as puffs of smoke, or tiny dancing lights. The inventor, Travis Torric, discovered ancient literature and photographic records of cave paintings depicting the rings. After months of exhaustive study, Travis discovered that there was a greater ring, no less than two miles from his suburban home. Travis recorded the energy waves from the site, and found a way to artificialy trigger the ring.The key: Perfect harmony
How do the rings work?
Burried four feet below the Earth's surface, beneath the rings, are crystals. The crystals are composed of a substance that would be known only as Element 116. This element does not naturaly occour in our solarsystem. Element 116 most likely originated in another galaxy, and arived on Earth (And Mobius) via meteorite or commet. It is not certain whether the Element 116 crystals were placed in their underground locations by inteligent life forms, or if it made it's way underground on it's own.
