This lists starts after the Eotheod moved south to settle the plains of Calenardhon, afterwards called Rohan. Cavalry were mostly armed with lance, mail and shield and are once described as charging in wedge; however "a few of the riders appeared bowmen, skilled at shooting from a running horse...the..wheeled away out of range of the answering bows"(from: The Two Towers). Regular troops are those from the marshalls' own divisions, irregulars are the levy called up in times of need. Foot levies are described as fighting as bowmen or in a shieldwall.

The House of Durin was the largest and most organized tribe, but after the loss of Moria TA1981, the house became fragmented and was further weakend by the loss of Erebor in TA 2770.

This list represents the larger coalitions of Dwarves  that came together for major wars such as the dwarves of the Ered Luin, the Iron Hills or the Great Mountains or the coalition of the War of Dwarves and Orcs where Thorin Oakenshield earned  his name at the Battle of Nanduhirion. Although not having the superb armories of the Great Dwarf holds, rustic Dwarves were still a force to be reckoned with.

Allied contingents from this list need not include any kinsmen.
