Basics of Angalon

Angalon Basics

Angalon is a basic MUD, but also has a few unique qualities. Getting around the world is fairly straight-forward. Type 'n''s''e''w' or any combination therein to move in those directions. The bottom of the screen will list the directions you can move in.
Getting experience is, of course, the major point of the game. Once you have enough experience, you will gain levels, either mortal levels, or levels within your guild.

Guild levels are titled differently for every guild. For example, in the Priests of Voorg guild, the levels are as follows:

There are two ways in which a character can gain experience:
Questing and Hunting

QUESTS

Quests are all over Angalon in many shapes and forms. Many of them involve the NPC's who you'll notice hanging around. If you want to find a quest, talk to an NPC. Listen carefully to what they say and ask a lot of questions. You should eventually be able to figure out what it is they want. Then your task is to actually help them out. This could involve anyt number of things, so it's impossible for me to give many pointers. The only ones I can really give are to examine and search EVERYTHING. Being observant and using logic are the keys to questing.
***NOTE*** Cheating on quests, like giving other characters the answers to riddles, etc., is STRICTLY forbidden in Angalon. PLEASE PLEASE don't do this, as you will get your character banished and get a bunch of important people very upset. Earn your experience the right way, please don't cheat.

HUNTING

Hunting is a favorite pastime of pretty much every character in Angalon. It basically entails wandering around the world looking for things to kill, killing them, and taking their money, equipment, or skins to sell. Why is this so great, you ask? Well, not only can you get great experience from hunting, but you can get money this way. Money is a wonderful thing to have, if you can get any. Money lets you do any number of wonderful things, such as splurge for better armour. This is a good idea if you are planning to play for longer than a few minutes. With better armour, you can kill larger creatures, which invariably have more money. With money you can also train and improve skills...which brings me to my next point. Skills and guilds!
