Basic Commands
These are some very basic commands to help get you started as a newbie in Angalon. For a more complete help guide, type 'help' or read the Beginner's Book in Town Hall.
- 'look', or just 'l'
- This is a basic command that is very valuable. This lets you see what else is in the room you're in and also WHO else is in the room. You will see the same information upon entering the room, but if a lot of things happen and the description goes off your screen, simply typing 'l' will show it again.
- 'examine' or just 'exa'
- You can examine anything in Angalon. Look in the description of the room you're in to see what things might hold secrets and examine them! You can also examine yourself to see things like what weapons you are wielding, what armour you're wearing, how hurt you are, what you look like, and more.
- 'search (object)'
- Searching means you take time and go through every nook and cranny of whatever you are searching. This is many times the only way to find secrets in Angalon. Take time and search things that stick out in the room description. You may be surprised at what you find!
- Directions
- 'n''s''e''w' and 'nw''ne''sw''se' and also 'u' for up and 'd' for down. These are the commands to get your character around the world of Angalon. Also be aware of these: 'board ' to get in a boat or a wagon to travel to another town. 'open door' to open closed doors
- 'say (message)'
- This is what you would type if you wanted to say something aloud. Anyone who is in the room with you will hear what you have said.
- 'to (character) (message)'
- This is what you would type if you wanted to say something to one character in the room with you, in particular. Everyone else in the room will hear what you say, but it will be indicated on everyone's screen who the comment was directed at.
- 'tell (character) (message)'
- This is one of the most valuable commands to learn. This allows you to send a message to someone no matter where in Angalon they are. If they happen to be in the room with you, this is a way to send a private message to that character, and no one else in the room will see it. ***NOTE*** You have to know the character's name in order to 'tell' them something.
- Introduce me
- This command is very important. When you execute this command, you tell everyone in the room your name, guild titles, and level. When you first enter the game, everyone you meet will just be, for example, "a tall blue-eyed dwarf" or "a brown-haired, barrel-chested human." Once they have introduced themselves, you will see them as simply their name. This allows you to 'tell' them if you wish. Unfortunately, once you quit the game, when you come back on, you won't know anyone again...UNLESS you have 'remember'ed them.
- 'remember (character)'
- This allows you to commit a person to memory so that any time you come on the game you will know their name and can 'tell' them if you wish.
- 'who'
- This is how you know if someone is on the game. Typing 'who' will give you a list of how many players are currently logged in, and who, of those players, you have in your memory. Any immortals that are on will be automatically on your list, so you do not have to 'remember' immortals.
- 'wield (weapon)', 'wear (armour)'
- When you come across weapons or armour, use them! They will greatly improve your fighting.
- 'vitals'
- This command brings up a screen of information about your character. Included on this screen is your health, your mana level, how tired you are, your alignment, and you age. There are more things as well. This is useful for seeing how hurt you are or how tired.
- 'wimpy (level)'
- Perhaps THE MOST IMPORTANT for newbies. Wimpy enables you to keep yourself from fighting to the death. The levels of hurting are as follows:
- feeling very well
- slightly hurt
- somewhat hurt
- hurt
- feeling rather hurt
- very hurt
- in a bad shape
- in a very bad shape
- terribly hurt
- barely alive
- at death's door
Set your wimpy at very hurt in the beginning. If you get any more hurt than that, the monster might be too tough for you. When your character gets down to very hurt in a fight, you will see your legs run away with you, and you will automatically move one screen away from the monster. ***NOTE***Please be careful! Some monsters will chase you after you wimpy. If this happens and you are really hurt, RUN quickly. You are faster than them in most cases.
- kill
- Use this when you see a creature in the room with you that you would like to battle.
