Shadow of the Mountain

You've got the Watcher's arm but your way out through Seven Gates is blocked by floods and the Watchers right behind you. You've picked your spot to make your stand. Remember the Alamo.
This is the single most popular coop level. It has lots of troops and the action's good. As a single player it is possible to stay at the top of the hill, going back and forth between enemy fronts, and survive. Just make sure you have enough Berserkers to kill the Trow at the end.

Doing this level cooperatively is a little harder. The Trow doesn't always wait till the end. His appearance seems to be random. If he comes early, he'll kick the hell out of everyone and leave you with a real beat up army too weak to finish the level. What I recomend is the strategy shown in the film. Once you defeat the initial attack, move everyone down the slope you just fought over and immediately North. There is a small, round plateau with some trees on it and only one way up. Set up here with Dwarves in the front (pick up all satchels on your way there so you can put them to use), one row of Archers on either side and back from them, Berserkers backing everyone up and the Jman in the far back to heal the injured. Now you have a very easy place to defend. The enemy gets all strung out coming to get you and you can hear the Trow come. When you know the Trow is coming, send out a suicide Dwarf and put him on the biggest pile of satchels in front of you that you can find (or just make one). While the Trow approaches, archer the hell out of him and make your Dwarf look kickable. In the film, I had enough satchels to do him in with one blow. If this doesn't work for you, rush your Berserks into him fast and keep shooting him. You'll take him down with minimal losses. The last thing you need to do to finish the level is to go kill the enemy Archers on your side and the opposite side.

Hints:

  • Don't lose your Dwarves. You need them.
  • Keep an eye out for the one little Dwarf who defects and save him from his pursuers.
  • Heal those veterans.
  • Don't let your Berserkers get away from you and run into a group you are also bombing.
  • Stop your Archers from shooting into a melee your Zerks are in.
    Here's the film.
