Where's the Tree of Masks
Everyone, to me, asks
where's the 'Tree of Masks'
where to go
what to do
I say, no one knows
but the soul in you
The souls speak to me
of the darkness they see
Swirled in black
no front, no sides
no where to look back
the blackness is the only to abide
no light, only fears
yet the light of the soul appears
just a whisper of flickering light
nevertheless it is a focusing sight
Everyone, to me, asks
where's the 'Tree of Masks'
where to go
what to do
I say, no one knows
but the soul in you
The souls speak to me
of the shadow they see
The shadow that lurks in the dark
it lurks in the dark of the day
even when day is bright
it makes its mark
when it first visits, it is here to stay
playing the game of hide and seek
it plays in our minds
it makes sadness and desperation seep
it plays for keeps with no rules to bind
I tell them, he's the keeper of the masks
why is he the keeper, they ask
when you use of the tree
you pay the keeper, it's not free
the more you use
the more the shadow grows and you lose
you pay with keys
keys that opens sadness in your heart
its darkness covers you in a blanket of leaves
then you are trapped with no where to part
trapped in the spiral of desperation being sucked of life
into the endless black hole
seeing only strife
till pain is endless
and all hope is gone
the shadow tells you death is painless
so the thought of ending life is done
I tell them in their despair,
that there are two in them
body and soul that nothing can compare
the soul will save them
if only they choose not to blow out the light
it's not easy, you will have to fight
Remember, the shadow has the keys to sadness
and will use them to trick you
the shadow will use all its might
to win your life
Everyone, to me, asks
where's the 'Tree of Masks'
where to go
what to do
I say, no one knows
but the soul in you
The souls speak to me
of the knowledge I see
I tell them, they know of the path to the tree
they have been there before
only those who have taken
know of the tree
know of the blackness
and the trickery
to those who seek to be free
cut through the tree
release the inner light
to unite the body and soul
it's not easy, you will struggle and fight
but when all is done
it will be a glorious victory
Everyone, to me, says
we shall find where the tree rests
I say
Good luck
For I am also on the quest.
