Shadow Of A Person

In the shadows, I sit and listen
My mind, heart, body and soul,
Have been torn free and crushed.
As I sit in the shadows,
My broken heart still beats.
With every beat, it brings pain.
Nothing is left, but a shadow.
I have fallen deep in love,
And then a knife struck deep in my heart.
As I lurk patiently in the shadows,
I notice that I'm not alone.
My single broken, beating heart,
Is soon joined by others.
Soon the beating becomes more.
One beat, then two, then three beats.
The beats grow stronger and louder,
The pain, I feel it from all.
I retreat deeper into the shadows,
And I shut the world out.
As I sit, think and listen,
I start to see a light.
I close my eyes, listening to the pain,
The pain from my broken heart.
I begin to contemplate my situation.
I feel an inner strength, slowly growing.
It grows stronger and stronger.
This is not the end of the world.
I remember all the other beating hearts,
I remember the pain, I am not alone.
I also remember the happiness,
That I once felt and enjoyed.
One by one, I visit each shadow.
I share the light I've found.
Friends, family, pets, and lovers,
All come and then go,
But one thing always remains,
That is your heart.
It may be broken, but it still beats.
As long as people remember.
Remember the pain, happiness and love.
Learn not to hate,
Learn to forgive,
Learn to love.
Sometime in life, sooner or later,
You'll encounter a hurt soul.
Someone to whom you give strength.
Someone who in turns gives you strength, too.
A person to grow and learn with.
It may be the first, second, third
Or even the hundredth person you encounter.
In time you will find them.
People are human and tend to make mistakes.
Patiently I lurk in the shadows.
Bringing with me a light,
That I share with wounded souls.
Searching for the person,
To bring this shadow,
Back into the light.
But until then,
My heart beats,
Growing stronger,
And Stronger.
