BACKGROUND
Aside form their massive fleets of cloned giant Zentraedi Warriors and their mssive Battleships and seemingly endless supply of mecha, the Robotech Masters felt the need for their own private army to protect their homeworld of Tirol and the few planets they directly controlled. The main reason for this was Cultural - they could ill afford to have the Zentraedi interact with their own society. In fact, most Zentraedi warriors were not even aware of the Robtech Masters’ existence.
The Tirolian Destroyer is a small ship designed and used by the Robotech Masters empire, often forfilling the roles of patrol, exploration and escort, as well as other roles deemed not important enough for the use of one of their Battleships or one of the few Motherships. The Destroyer was designed to be the lightest ship in the Robotech masters fleet, but still large enough to operate on its own for extended periods of time and be powerful enough to defend itself in battle. To do this, it was to be equipped with a powerful cannon armament as well as a compliment of the newly-developed Bioroid Combat Mecha and Assault Carriers. Unlike the Zentraedi combat ships that focussed all their weapons in their forward arc, the Destroyer mounted its weapons across the hull, offering it full coverage. The ship was armed with ten powerful particle beam cannons, giving it much greater firepower than a ship of its size would normally carry. To boost this power even more, the ship carried a small Reflex Cannon (the smallest ship ever to carry such a weapon until the Assault Carrier Gunship Variant was devised) in its bow section to destroy entire enemy fleets or for planetary bombardment. Finally, it carried an extensive AA battery. The ships most notable feature lay in its drive system. Rather than using conventional reaction-mass engines, the ship used a Gravitic Displacement Drive. While the ship was slower than it would be with a conventional drive, the nature of this drive allowed it to accelerate almost indefinitely.
Approximately 1,100 Destroyers were built by the Masters over the centuries. For most of their lives these ships served in relatively low-key roles and saw little combat. However, with the decline of the Robotech Master’s empire they were pressed into combat against the Invid and many of them were destroyed. The Robotech Masters took approximately 160 of them to Earth, many of which were suffering from sever Power Depletion. Most of them were destroyed by the Southern Cross, although some were used by the Masters to set their clone population adrift near the end of the war. Some of these ships were salvaged, although they were of no value, being little more than unpowered hulks. The remaining ships of the class were destroyed by the Invid while defending the Local Group planets or abandoned due to power loss.

SPEEDS:
- Speed(sublight): 0.001 speed of light
Speed(conventional Drives): Maximum space acceleration possible is 1.8g, sustainable indefinitely
Space Fold: Range Unlimited.
- Flying speed is about mach 0.9, due to the ships size and shape. Capable of breaching the atmosphere and re-entering under its own power.
- Maximum Range: Unlimited (Protoculture generator has an estimated 50-65 year life span)
STATISTICAL DATA:
- Length: 348 meters (main hull), 386 meters (over all).
Height: 103 meters (main hull), 148 meters (over all).
Width: 56 meters (main hull), 101 meters (over all).
Weight: 395,000 tons.
- Fold System:
- Robotech Masters Fold System
- Sublight Drive:
- Monopolar-induced gravitic space-time distortion drive.
- Gravity Control System: Internal
Auxiliary Engine:
- Fusion-Plasma Reaction Thrusters with protoculture energizer.
- Radar System: Various sensory systems
WEAPON SYSTEMS:
- Reflex Cannon: A miniaturised version of the incredibly destructive weapon mounted on the Robotech Master's ships. Unlike those of the Zentraedi ships or SDFs 1 and 3, the Destroyer needs only a small generation area, thus the bow does not split in half like it does on those ships. The weapon is designed for use against spacecraft and massed groups of mecha, but can also be used for planetary bombardment. This weapon served as the basis for the Ikazuchi's Reflex Cannon.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Heavy Assault
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-Warship
- RANGE: 320,000 km by 1km wide. (Half range in atmosphere)
- DAMAGE: Destroys EVERYTHING in its path, regardless of MDC and
movement. The only way to avoid obliteration is to avoid being in the
path of the beam! If used against a planet, the beam causes
1D4x1,000,000 MD (!), leaving only a radioactive crater 1D4x10 miles
long and 2D6x100 feet deep. The resulting shockwave will also cause
substantial damage to surrounding terrain for an additional 1D6x5
miles from the edge of the crater. (Note: A sufficiently
strong force field can deflect/absorb the beam if necessary. Examples
of such fields include multiple pinpoint barrier shields layered on
top of each other.
A force field must have AT LEAST 20,000 MDC capacity before
it can resist a heavy particle beam of this magnitude.)
- RATE OF FIRE: Once per 5 minutes (40 melees).
- PAYLOAD: Effectively Unlimited. Note: By the time the Robotech Masters had reached Earth, most of the ships lacked sufficient power to use their Reflex Cannons.
- Six Main Particle Beam Cannons. Six particle beam cannons are mounted on the ship. Four are on the front, facing forwards, while the other two are mounted aftwards to the sides.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defence
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-Warship
- RANGE: 320,000km (Half in an atmosphere)
- DAMAGE:4D6x100 M.D.
- RATE OF FIRE: Once every other melee
- PAYLOAD: Effectively unlimited.
- Eight Secondary Particle Beam Cannons. Eight particle beam cannons are mounted on the ship. One is on each side of the bow in a moveable turret, while the other six are mounted on the dorsal and ventral surfaces.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defence
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-Warship
- RANGE: 160,000km (Half in an atmosphere)
- DAMAGE:2D6x100 M.D.
- RATE OF FIRE: Once per melee
- PAYLOAD: Effectively unlimited.
- 120 Rapid-Fire Laser Turrets are mounted on the ship, 10 of these cannons are mounted on the bow, another ten are mounted on the stern, and 25 are divided over each of the dorsal, port, ventral and starboard hull surfaces. Each is operated by a gunner from within the ship. The +1 strike bonus is added to the gunner's own hand to hand combat bonus (if any). 360 degree rotation and a 180 degree arc of fire.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Anti-Mecha
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-Missile
- RANGE: 2.4 km (Half in an atmosphere)
- DAMAGE: 2D4x10 M.D.
- RATE OF FIRE: Six times per melee
- PAYLOAD: Effectively unlimited.
SYSTEMS OF NOTE:
- ANTIGRAVITY PROPULSION SYSTEM: Unlike most ships that use conventional reaction-mass based engies, the Tirolian Destroyer is propelled by a Gravitic Displacement Drive. While the Drive is slower than a conventional rection-mass based drive, it is much mor efficient and allows the ship to accelerate allmost indefinitely. The Drive is also used to keep the ship airborne in an atmospheric situation. The Ship can take off and land vertically and hover in place indefintely.
- HYPERSPACE COMMUNICATIONS: Based on the same technology as the
space fold system, the hyperspace communications relay allows
faster-than-light communication between the Destroyer and other
vessels or planetary bases. Hyperspace communications are still not
instantaneous, however. Audio/video communication travels through hyperspace
at a rate of about 5 seconds per light year, so messages communicated over
vast distances can still take days, weeks, or months to arrive.
- LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS: The destroyers have sufficient life
support to provide breathable air and comfortable temperatures for 1,100
people for up to 12 years (air is recycled). In an emergency the life support
system can support up to 65,000 people at one time, though living conditions
onboard will get extremely cramped at that point.
- LONG-RANGE LASER/SATELLITE RELAY COMMUNICATIONS: The impressive
communications array of the battleship can communicate with up to 1,000
craft simultaneously at ranges of up to 900 miles (1,440 km). This range can
be boosted indefinitely by using satellites or other spacecraft as to relay
communications.
- LONG-RANGE RADAR: The radar array of the battle carrier is equally
as impressive as the communication system, and can track and identify up to
2,000 craft simultaneously. The radar system has a 2,000 mile/3,200 km range.
- SPACE FOLD SYSTEM: For FTL propulsion, the battleship is
equipped with a Robotech Robotech Masters Fold System. The range of
the fold drive is theoretically unlimited except by the life expectancy of the
spacecraft.
- SUBSPACE MASS SENSORS: The Destroyers are equipped
with subspace sensors, which are based on the same principles as the
hyperspace communications array. These sensors can essentially instantly
detect mass readings and movement of objects up to 1 AU (93 million miles)
distant from the ship, and the readings are used both for early warning and
for navigation when travelling at sublight speeds. Readings taken with the
subspace sensors are not very detailed (-25% penalty when trying to identify a
detected object) and cannot detect objects of less than 60,000 kg (this
includes most mecha).

Conversion Notes
The information on this ship is limited to examining the footage of it's few appaerances. Even then they are very vaugge - there are no clar pictures of its above side or its rear, and very few scale refrences. Equipping this ship with a Reflex cannon was besed on the footage of the destrouction of Monument City in episode #60 - it was a Destroyer that fired the shot.
