NES Articles

The point of this section is to organize all the various NES articles in video game magazines, THAT I RETYPED! Don't steal these and put them up as your own work. First of all, they are not your work, they are the staff of Nintendo Power's work. Secondly, you did not spend hours (yes, hours) typing these things up for the NES fans on the net who don't have access to the old issues of Nintendo Power. Now, on with the show...

Nintendo Power

Some of the newcomers to the NES scene may ask, "What is Nintendo Power?" Well, Nintendo Power is a monthly publication owned and distributed by Nintendo. It started in the late eighties as a mandatory source of info to any true NES fan. When the Super NES came around, I personally felt that NP's new format was trying too hard to look high-tech. I still appreciated the insider information and the varied articles ranging from NES Classics to how the Super NES works, but the simple, natural layout and beautiful hand-drawn illustrations couldn't compare to computer graphics and a more sophisticated look. Unfortunately, as Spazzoid has so brilliantly said, Nintendo Power has become nothing but an N64 ad. I can't say it any better than that.

Back in the day, Nintendo Power covered all sorts of topics important to the average gamer. Technical articles, games in development, and of course, the lovely comic antics of Howard and Nester were all found in Nintendo Power.

If you ever come across some old Nintendo Power issues (NES was at it's prime from issue No. 1 to about 30) for cheap, I'd highly reccomend you pick them up. I started my subscription around issue No. 14, back when the magazine was still bi-monthly, so I'm still looking for a few of the older ones. Plus, the first three or four issues I had are now the equivalent of dust.
