CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT (Part 1 of 2)
by Mynara

I am reminding everyone who is relatively new to the AD&D system, or who is just forgetful, that there are a couple of things to keep in mind. If you are going to Dual as a Human (which is the only race that can), it is not suggested that you begin as a Mage. The maximum levels for Humans are as follows (Prime requisites also follow).

Fighter: 12th level STR
Mage:11th levelINT
Cleric:10th levelWIS
Thief:12th levelDEX

If it is a spell-casting arsenal that you are putting together, I'd suggest starting as a Cleric, then Dual to Mage when 10th level Cleric is achieved. This gives you the best HP's and the maximum levels in both classes. Another item to keep in mind is your minimum stats required to Dual. In order to Dual, the prime requisite in the class you are dualing FROM must be at least 15. The prime requisite in the class you are dualing TO must be at least 17.

(Editor's Note: The second part of Mynara's article will be published in the
3rd issue of LC)

NEW MEMBER TRAINING
by Zor'ak

All new members should contact their elder House members for training. The House WeaponsMaster is responsible for all fighter training, and House Wizard is responsible for mage training. Yathrin should of course follow the lead of their Matron Mother. A wise surface dweller once said:

"For since men for the most part follow in the footsteps and imitate the actions of others, and yet are unable to adhere exactly to those paths which others have taken, or attain to the virtues of those whom they would resemble, the wise man should always follow the roads that have been trodden by the great, and imitate those who have most excelled, so that if he cannot reach their perfection, he may at least aquire something of its savour."

DROW OF THE WEEK
by Zor'ak

The first Drow of the week is, fittingly, me. Heheheheh. ;)

Zor'ak Lylyl entered Neverwinter last fall. He was immediately recruited into the TOL by SARABIAN and Kiresti. He currently serves as Firstboy and House Wizard of the 3rd House. Zor'ak is a Fighter/Magic User, level 7/11. He travels the realms alone, mostly. He can usually be found doing one of two things. He is either taking newbies on a tour (attempting to corrupt and recruit them), or he is chasing ITB's around the woods and sewers. He usually does not initiate PvP (except against ITB), and does not usually resort to Feebing. Zor'ak has a good record in PvP, and is considered a good RPer.

Due to the fact that he travels with a wide range of people, and also posts often (in many different folders), Zor'ak has a high profile in NW. He complains that he is almost continually ESPed, and attempting to reply to 5 ESPs at once sometimes confuses him. ;D Zor'ak has been described as "incorrigible" and "arrogant" by other players. :)

Major Spellcasting Achievement: When fighting on the island, Zor'ak once held 3 Remorhaz' in one cast of Hold Monsters.

DROW MOST WANTED

Has everyone read the post by Doc Krypto? Well, he has the honor of being the first one profiled in DMW. Doc Krypto is never to be trusted. He routinely lies and connives just to be able to get the upper hand. (wait a minute, I kinda like that...) Anyway, he is a good PvPer, and RPs his character well. He enjoys PvP, and prefers to attack good or neutral targets, rather than evil ones. He should be considered dangerous, and novice PvPers should NOT attempt to fight him. His post "declaring war" on us, is just a game to him, and he does not take it too seriously. We cannot let this action pass unpunished, however. Doc should be put in his place, and shown the strength of the TOL.

Name: Doc Krypto
Class:?
Guild: KAAOS
Alignment: Evil
Known friends: ?
Known enemies: ?
If anyone can furnish more info, this profile will be updated.

FOND FAREWELL

GOSSIP CORNER
by *please read note concerning gossip in the submission section*

It seems that most of the new recruits have requested entry into the 3rd House. Sources report that this has caused some irritation to Shael and the other Matrons. When asked about the situation, Zor'ak said "Heheheheheh }:-> ".

There is apparently a war brewing between the newly formed HHC and the SA/ITBs. The SA and the ITBs were in the middle of hostilities themselves when they both joined forces to smack the new guild. There has not yet been any major battle as of yet, only skirmishing.

As the TOL recovers from it's recent disarray, we look for rivalries to heat up between the houses. Who has the most powerful house currently? Place your bets! I know who my money is on!

SUBMISSIONS

I will welcome any and all submissions of articles/editorials/etc. by any member (Probationary or not) of the TOL. Gossip can be submitted also. Someone has already submitted gossip under a temporary screen name that was immediately deleted to maintain his/her secrecy. This is currently acceptible to me. Note that the editors of LC reserve the right to refuse to publish material considered "offensive" or out of place, and LC will NOT become a place for name calling or for airing feuds. Please send all submissions to "Zorak".

The number of submissions (and the amount of my free time) will determine how often an issue of LC will come out. Anyone who is interested in having a regular "column" should contact me and submit stuff! This newsletter is for all of us. Send stuff in! There is no official LC staff, only me as editor. I will accept just about anything! ::waiting at mailbox for more submissions::

DISCLAIMER

All information contained herein is considered non-official by the TOL. Any and all official TOL business will be handled by Shael and the Talthalra of Ilharessen. LC is willing to post "official" releases by the TOL. Any Ilharess can submit official House "press releases" to LC, and it will be labeled as "official" only if the submission is clearly labeled as such.
