CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT (Part 2 of 2) by Mynara (Continued from Issue #2) Example...I have rolled up a human Cleric with the following stats...STR16 INT17 WIS15 DEX17 CON16 HP:5 CHA13...not a bad char. It has met the min Dualing requirements to change to either a Mage or a Thief (heh). I wouldn't keep this char, however. With a 15 WIS, I'd be losing bonus spells which come with higher Wisdom. Although the CON hp bonus of +2 per lvl is what I'd need, I really care not for the starting 5 hp's, which would make it exceedingly hard to survive. I could not Dual to Fighter, because my STR is below 17. A VERY IMPORTANT thing to remember is that in order to regain the powers of your first class, your second class MUST be higher!!! If I were to start out as a Figher and Dualed to Mage, if I went beyond 10th lvl in Fighter, the Char is DOOMED!!! ;D Now we get into the exciting world of the Elven Multi-Class. My personal favorite is the Fighter/Mage/Thief. What you must remember is that elves have Max. Level limitations depending on their class. I will reprint a copy without permission as follows: Max level limits by race, class, and prime req.
As you can see, there are things to keep in mind when rolling your character. Ilharess Mynara Faen Tlabbar DROW OF THE WEEK This week we profile Ilharess Mynara Faen Tlabbar. Mynara was first inducted into the Temple of Lolth when Elvraema first made her anouncement to the world of the coming of the drow. She became 1st daughter of Aunrae Faen Tlabbar before her first week was out. Upon Aunrae's pending return, Mynara is temporarily filling in as Ilharess of Faen Tlabbar....which she hopes to make her own someday. Mynara is a 7/11/12 Fighter/Mage/Thief who made it a priority to become maxed in ver2 as soon as possible, for the benefit of the Temple. She works for the glory of Lolth and her temple, and will let NOTHING stand in the way of seeing this Temple rise to the top of the current Guilds of NW. Mynara either adventures alone, or takes out new Drow for raids against the creatures of the Realms. She has been granted the title of TOL Treasurer, and will give any needed items or funds to any drow in need (unless she has yet to find the items for herself...heh), but beware those who think these gifts are without a cost. Nothing in life is free, and sooner or later, Mynara will find a way to offset the cost of the item or money with the drow which was favored. Mynara cares not what others think of her...her main interests are the survival of the Temple and her family. Mynara has been judged one of the 3 most dangerous Drow by the DDRS (Dangerous Drow Rating Society). MAGE SPELL CHOICES by Zor'ak Many new mages ask me what spells to pick for their grimoire. Everyone will eventually get all of the spells if enough scrolls are scribed, but what to do until then? Here are the spell choices that I recommend. The best 5th level mage spell is Hold Monster. This spell will work on 4 targets, and will work on anything/anyone. It is a multi-purpose spell useful in both normal combat, and in PvP. The best 4th level spell depends on what you plan on doing....If you want to PvP, then you MUST choose Minor Globe of Invulnerability....If you are a fighter with alot of hits, then choose Fire Shield...In my experience, most people choose Ice Storm. Ice Storm is nice because it damages fire-based creatures and can blast through Globes, but the damage is always very disappointing. Here is my list of favorite spells (all levels): Lvl 1 - Enlarge, Magic Missile Lvl 2 - Invisibility, Mirror Image Lvl 3 - Fireball, Haste Lvl 4 - Globe Lvl 5 - Hold Monsters. Everyone will have their own favorite spells and their own playing style, so no choice is "right" or "wrong". There are smart choices, however. Before you actually go and train up those levels, check over the spell lists, and plan out which spells you will take. Think about what you need, and what will benefit you most. My being a Fighter/Mage shaped my spell choices a lot. Also remember to have in mind what you are going out to fight when choosing spells to memorize. I have several standard "spell packages" that I use for different situations. There is my standard list, my PvP list, my "support" list, my "artillery" list, and several others. Never have just one "generic" set of spells that you always have memorized. In order to be at your full potential, you need to be properly equipped for the combats you are entering. It is very frustrating to look at your spell lists in the middle of a pitched battle, and find that you have nothing memorized that is useful! Experience should be your guide. Remember....above all, just THINK AHEAD!!! GOSSIP CORNER Rumor has it that Zorak has been mouthing off to several Yathrin recently. How much longer will it be until fate catches up with him? His life insurance policy was just cancelled due to "high risk behavior". Hey Zorak, you got a deathwish? There is apparently some illicit activity in the realms, as the world's oldest profession has recently taken up shop in NW. Who and where? Only a few of us in the know as of yet, but it sure will be a popular place in the future! Insiders say that Zorak was seen leaving the forest glade of Morgan Fey the other morning after a long night spent together. A Drow and a Druid? What are they thinking? And what would his sisters say if they only knew what Zorak was doing in his spare time? Zor'ak is apparently miffed at the anonymous slander levelled against him recently. "Absolute distortions!" he claimed. "If I find the Look for house Faen Tlabbar and Auvryndar to gobble up all of the new members, as they currently dont have any members to speak of. You should actually call them huts instead of houses right now. Or perhaps shacks. Editor's Note: Gossip aimed at other characters should have a high amusement value, rather than just being nasty.
