TOLLUND

[Continent]

The current adventures take place on a small continent / big island called Tollund, which is located west of a huge continent known simply as the Realms™. Tollund is rather scarcely populated due to its poorness. It is best known for its ruins; there are several ancient ruins scattered over the continent. The origin of these signs of former civilization is unknown, as is the reason why that civilization perished.

Main industry in all human populated areas is farming. The southern mountains are also known to contain ore, but they are populated by dwarves and the neighboring nation, the kingdom of Aman (capitol King's View), has never tried to conquer that area but rather lives in peace and trades with the dwarves.

Recently there have also been rumours that several ancient mines in the western side of the Northern Mountains (or Dark Mountains) would not be exhausted, but still contained vast amounts of ore and other valuable minerals. This would be great news for Aman, because all the discovered mines are located in an area of the mountains that belongs to it.
On the other hand the possible riches may endanger the peace between Aman and Nedur (capitol Moathmoore), because Nedur is even poorer than Aman for its colder climate and would certainly use every trick in the book to take advantage of the riches so close to its own lands. However they lack the money to equip a proper army and their puissant mages seem to be more interested in maintaining their secured positions than getting involved in a risky and potentially perilous war.

The Northern Mountains which partially separate Aman and Nedur also keep Nedur's lands distinct from the dreadful Great White Glacier in the north. This icy land is not only too cold for humans to live in; it is also rumoured to be home to giants and even dragons whom only the fear of the infamous but undoubtedly powerful mages of Nedur keep at bay.

Most of the players have been born in the kingdom of Aman, which shares a common border with the kingdom of Nedur to the north and the only dwarven populated area in whole Tollund to the south. The people call that dwarven area Southern Border Mountains or just Southern Mountains, but the dwarven name is Sonn Runedar. The capitol — and the only real city in that area — is Burakrin.

There are no human settlements beyond the Border Mountains; actually no-one knows for sure what exactly is there. Nobody has returned to tell about it, and lately only very few daredevils have tried to find it out. An adventuring group called "The Five Norsemen" from King's View were the last to try, and nothing has been heard from them since they passed Burakrin in Nightal 1355.
