The adventures started in the first days of Marpenoth in 326, when ranger Peledor and dwarven warrior Oromor teamed up for an expedition, heading for the western parts of the Northern Mountains to explore a cave Peledor had discovered earlier.

The dated journal does not start until 26th of Uktar, because both Peledor and Oromor were unable to read and write common when they started adventuring. Priest Galanor has taught them during their adventures, and keeping the journal is their way to practice; it could even prove profitable at some time, because bards are often interested in purchasing adventurers' tales, as such make excellent raw material for epics and songs.
