This is a quick walkthrough, merely a guideline if one is confused as to the next step in the story.

Part one: the western and lower lands The game starts out a bit rough, due to a lack of magic at first, but it is not that difficult.

Potos forest and Village

After the introduction grab the sword and hack through the bushes build up your level to at least 3 and your sword at level 1. Return to the village. Elliott hits you a few times, then a hole opens up and you will face the mantis ant. He is easy and if happen to fall, jema will revive you.

Pandora fields and the Water Palace

After being banished, buy a bandana but do not bother with candy or herbs, as you will find plenty on the road. Follow the path north to the water palace, fighting all the monsters you encounter (which is a good practice in this game at all times to gain experience). Stop at Neko's house on the far left side of the wilderness, and buy an wrist guard. Continue north, and enter the water palace; speak to both Jema and Luka, the sage of water. You will seal your first mana seed, and recieve the spear. Goblins will capture you, but a girl will rescue you. Head south to Pandora and be sure to build up a level on the Spear.

At this point, you have a choice: you can gain the girl as a member of your party immediatly, taking the easy road, or wait to get her in the haunted forest by having the Sprite join first. There is no real difference, but if you talk to the girl in the haunted forest later on with the Sprite, she tickles him, fun!
The easy way In the town of Pandora enter the castle and follow the one-way path until you reach a large hallway; the girl will rush out and ask you to join her. After joining with her head for Gaia's navel, which is on the left side of Pandora. Battle on through the path, working towards the center of the area, where you will see two caves. One is a dead end, but will soon be a shortcut to the dwarf village. For now, enter the other path, and continue through the depths of the cave. There are no bosses until after you reach the village, so do not be stingy if a green drop is causing massive damage. Also, do not miss the magic rope. When you reach the village, talk to Watts, and use any orbs you might have. Then on to the elder - speak with him, then enter the room next to his and watch the show; give some money to the sprite during the show. After the show, follow the Elder and the Sprite. They will apologize for scamming you. Be prepared when you leave this room, because you will be attacked by tropicallo. He is not a difficult boss, just use the spear for it's long distance (it would be a wise idea to control the girl since she's probably weaker than the boy at this point, and the computer AI is less than perfect). Have the other character use the sword, and set them to full attack. Afterwords the sprite will join you, and bring along the bow and the boomerang. Talk to watts to buy the axe (you will need it) and upgrade your armor.

The hard way Simply put, go to the dwarf village without entering Pandora Castle. Follow the same steps above, then afterwords, head north to the haunted forest teleporter. You'll be automatically placed in a closed segment of the forest where two werewolves are holding the girl captive. Defeat them, and she will join. Like mentioned before the only concievable reason why one would want to use this way is for the extra dialogue with the girl and the sprite, which I can save you the trouble of: "Girl: Oh look! How cute! Goochy Goochy Goo! Sprite: Hey quit that! (Boy), help me!"
