CLOUD
Looks: Handsome. Rare blonde spiky hair (well, I suppose it's not rare in the
Anime/Video game world), and cool blue eyes. Has an earring on his left ear. 

Smarts: Not a rocket scientist, but above average. Knowledgable about ShinRa,
Mako and Materia. A pro in motorcycle riding, and can set bombs, therefore could
probably disable them as well. 

Personality: At one point, selfish because at the beginning of the game at the Mako
reactor, he was only interested in finishing the job and getting paid. Unusually, for
being rather young, he is very calm and collective. He doesn't concern himself with
itty-bitty details and idle matters. Takes a frank attitude towards almost everything,
and is always in pokerface., but is sure to protect the ones he cares about. 

Cooking: If forced to, probably could manage enough to survive, but otherwise,
no. 

Fighting Skills: Excellent. Training for 3 years at ShinRa, he's picked up valuable
skills. Stronger in sword combat than hand-to-hand, but no doubt he could easily
take apart some street bozos in a duke-out. Though we're not in Japan in the
FFVII setting, if you live in Japan, you have to be able to lift (yes, lift) a
motorcycle if you wanna drive it. Cloud stole that motorcycle from somewhere in
the ShinRa building, but I still think he could lift it if he had to (he can swing that
huge sword around, can't he?) 

Special Abilities: Wielding a Bastard Sword almost as tall as himself has GOT to
qualify for some unique ability! He can fling any oversized sword around like it's as
light as a feather. Also at one point, gains the ability to fly (When he hands the
Black Materia to Sephiroth). He can also "feel" the prescence of Aeris, Sephiroth,
and Jenova if they're nearby. 

Competition: Tifa, Aeris, Sephiroth. Tifa is definetly your most fierce competitor.
They've known each other since they were children, and she's got a major crush
on him. And it's not like Cloud doesn't think about her, either. Even when he was a
child, Cloud was rather cold and never talked much, but he seemed to open up to
Tifa, and Tifa alone. Aeris is your second biggest problem, but not too much to
worry about. Though she does like Cloud, he probably never considered her as a
love interest, more of a mysterious girl who should be protected from harm. Plus
the fact that Aeris's dead. Now, finally, Sephiroth isn't exactly a rival; it's just that
his ability to manipulate Cloud and all WILL cause problems for you. After all, you
don't want Seph making Cloud try to kill you, just like he did when Aeris was
there, would you? But, if you manage to help Cloud restore his "true" self, and
help him get rid of Seph, you have a good chance. 

In-Laws: He did have a mother in Nibelheim, but she was killed unfortunatley by
you-know-who (htorihpeS). Now, Jenova is probably the next closest thing to
Cloud's family (but that is REALLY, REALLY stretching it, since it's just a few of
her cells that he's got from her). You don't mind having an evil space alien intruder
for a mom-in-law, do you? 

Economics: Doesn't seem to be a problem. Cloud isn't really a big waster of
money, and he probably still has lots of Gil from those Mako jobs in Midgar. 

Sex: Despite being 21-years-old, and after experiencing that cross-dressing bit(^_^),
he doesn't seem to know what it's really about (0_oUltra-rare!!) Cloud is definitley
a virgin. (His first kiss is probably from Priscilla, the girl who he had to do CPR on
in Junon!) He'd probably wait rather than rushing into things, as he would be
cautious in this particular area. When he DOES find Miss Right (gee, I wonder
who THAT might be?), he's sure to give her a lot of attention, love and loyalty. Be
sure to do the same. 

Overall: If you get past that cold exterior of his, and get Tifa out of the picture,
you've got a great deal! ^_^ Just make sure you're up to tons of fighting. 





                          Aeris Gainsborough
                                   (Aerith)

Looks: Classically beautiful, elegant and maybe a bit demure, but in a quiet,
innocent, spiritual way. Nice long brown hair and large green eyes. Sure to catch
one's attention, as she has a certain aura or magnetism that draws people to her. A
girly-girl-type person. 

Smarts: Pretty good. Being the last Cetra in the world, she can read the ancient
language and hear the voice of the planet. When it comes to flowers, there's
probably no one better to turn to than her. As she lives in the slums and often goes
out to sell flowers, she's got to have some street-smarts. 

Personality: Deep; this one isn't really easy to sum up. Aeris is a lot of things, to
put it simply. She is gentle and kind, and deeply religious (In ways, similar to
Belldandy of Oh, My Goddess!) She spends most of her time in the church or
tending to her flowers. She isn't physcially active, so be prepared for a quiet, calm
time with her. Aeris is brash and quick in making desiscions, and can be very brave
(she showed no sign of fear when the Turks captured her. She also knew that she
was going to die, yet didn't fear it). When she sets her mind on something, she
intends to see it to the end no matter what. Even though she's older than Tifa and
Cloud, occasionally, her way of speech and actions makes her seems like an
annoying child. She reminds me very much of Kasumi from Ranma 1/2 or Tatora
from Magic Knight Rayearth... 

Cooking: Reasonably good, as she's picked up some skills from Elmina (see
In-Laws). Not as good as Tifa, though. 

Fighting Skills: Not too good. She does have a long rod as a weapon, but it
doesn't apply much damage. Besides, she probably would feel slightly bad hurting
or killing someone (even if it was a monster), so she would go easy on an enemy. 

Special Abilities: What she lacks in physical activity, she makes up for it in magic
spells. She is a skilled wizard, and knows much about the uses of Materia. But, like
I said previously, she's not a fighter, so her spells are all based on healing (except
for Jakifuuin). Her other special skill is to read and speak the language of the
Setra. She can listen and talk to the planet, and she is the only one who can
summon the power of the Holy. 

Competition: Cloud, Zack, Tseng. First of all, Aeris loves Cloud; major problemo
for you. It'll take a lot of patience and time, but if you can convince her that Cloud
is already taken, she might spark an intrest for you. She used to love Zack, but
ShinRa guards killed him, so he's out of the picture. And finally, Tseng, leader of
the Turks. He's not much of a romantic rival for you. Aeris only thinks of him as a
special friend, but Tseng has romantic feelings for her. Tseng may be unsure if
you're good enough for her, so you better prove to him that you'll keep Aeris
happy; otherwise you just might find yourself dead someday. 

In-Laws: Professor Gast was her father, and Ifalna, a Cetra was her mother, but
they both died when Aeritswas still a baby. A widow named Elmina found Aeris
and became her foster mother. Relatives shouldn't be a real problem. Elmina is the
kind of person who wants the best for her daughter. If she sees you really love
Aeris, she'll be happy. 

Economics: It won't be luxurious with just a flower business, but then Aeris isn't
greedy nor selfish, so she doesn't mind being on the poorer side. But since flowers
are rare in Midgar (or wherever you plan to live), she probably sells out her entire
basket of blossoms by the end of a day. All in all, it shouldn't be too bad, but it's
suggested that you get a good job. 

Sex: Hard to say, but I'm positive she'll refuse until she's married. Being religious,
a night with her is more pure and spiritual than erotic. But she'd be very eager to
please her partner. There's also the chance that she's the
"usually-normal-but-explodes-in-the-bedroom" type. 

Overall: Her personality is filled with all sorts of traits, and that part may prove
dificult sometimes. Aeris is the type where she won't hold back on trying to get
something that she wants, and she'll be sure to get it. As long as the competition is
gone, you become religious and learn the ways of the Setra, it'll be easy.^_^ If you
want to speed up the process, present her with flowers every time you meet. 





                              Tifa Lockhart

Looks: A stunning beauty. Completely stacked; would make good competition for
Lara Croft. Burgundy-ruby eyes match with long, sleek black hair and a charming
earring. Has a seducting smile. I suspect she has a massive scar somewhere on her
upper body, since she was slashed by Sephiroth five years ago. 

Smarts: Average. Sometimes she lets her emotions blur her judgement, especially
if someone dear to her is involved. Her expertise area focuses on cooking and
drinks. Owning the Seventh Heaven bar in Midgar, she makes drinks and cocktails,
and customers have nothing but compliments for her. 

Personality: Optimism in the flesh. Always has a positive attitude, which is
surprising for she lost both her parents when she was so young. Her efforts are
gallant, as she is the one who has to calm down Barrett whenever he gets angry
with Cloud (which is often). She also has good maternal instinct, as she cares for
Marlene whenever Barrett is out on a job. Loyal, practical, good-natured and
affectionate to her friends. Around Cloud, however, she can be extremley shy. Tifa
was also popular with the boys in her childhood in Nibelheim, and that hasn't
changed in the present, either. She likes new challenges, and is open-mided. While
she is most of the time mature and adult, sometimes her mood switches to a very
kawaii teenager (but not annoyingly so like Aerith). 

Cooking: Fantastic. She DOES own her own business, after all. She cooks very
well, and in large quantities (Wedge's overweightness proves it). Drinks/cocktails
are her specialty as well. 

Fighting Skills: Question her skills, and she just might do her Dolphin Blow Limit
Break on you! Trained by Zangan, a master martial arts trainer, Tifa goes for
direct attacks, contrary to Aeris who prefers magic attacks. Though she doesn't
have any impressive-looking weapons, she can still easily beat the heck out of an
enemy. But if you just simply cower behind her and let her do all the battles, she'll
definetley get XXXXed off at you very soon. She's a strong woman that demands a
lover who's just as strong. 

Special Abilities: Well, none really, but the Meteo Strike Limit Break to grab an
opponent and lift him into the air, then body-slamming him (despite whatever the
opponent's size or weight may be), is definitley an amazing feat! 

Competition: Cloud, in a nutshell. She's got a childhood crush going strong for
him, and it doesn't look likely that she'll simply forget about him. Tifa, a Taurus
(May 3rd), are driven by Venus, the planet of love, representing love, art, physical
attraction, sentimentality, ans sex. Speaks for itself.It's pretty evident (from the last
scenes on Disk 2 and the real flashback in the Lifestream) that Cloud cares for her
as well. And even if you DO manage to rid yourself of the Cloud problem, you'll
still have a whole legion of other boys vying for her to deal with. She was popular
with everyone in Nibelheim, and she's still just as popular in Midgar. 

In-Laws: None. Her mother died when she was young, and her father was killed
by Sephiroth. 

Economics: She owns her own business, as said before. She's sure to have more
Gil than the average Joe! 

Sex: Should the subject some up, she'd quickly change the subject, followed by a
blushing face. Her shyness will be yet another wall you'll have to overcome. Once
that's gone, however, she may become more aggressive. She'd do anything to keep
you happy, so lots of attention will follow. 

Overall: It says 'challenge' written all over it. Taking her mind off Cloud will be
your biggest feat IF you manage to do so. But if that's what you prefer, than good
luck! It would be well worth it! 





                            Barrett Wallace

Looks: Gruff and coarse. It might be tough to get over that massive gatling gun on
his right arm. He has a tatto on his left upper arm. 

Smarts: Maybe a notch below average. Goes for the "Shoot first, ask questions
later" method. 

Personality: A complete opposite of Cloud, Barrett always speaks his mind, is
headstrong, impatient, and stubborn. Because of his foul mouth and appearance,
most of the people in Midgar only see him as a terrorist. He is prone to getting
angry quickly, but always calms down into a loving father whenever Marlene is
around. And he cares a great deal about the environment and the planet; that's why
he started Avalanche: to protect the planet. 

Cooking: Are you kidding? He's too busy to learn how with Avalanche, and
besides, with Tifa around, who needs to learn how? 

Fighting Skills: Decent. The gun on his arm will either load a person's body with
bullets, or be used to simply beat the living crap out of you. Of course, there's
always the option of him simply beating you up directly... 

Special Abilities: None. 

Competition: Marlene, but she's his step-daughter, not a romantic rival. Barrett
literally does EVERYTHING for Marlene's sake. You're gonna have to love
children if you're aiming for this guy! 

In-Laws: None. His parents are most likely deceased. Again, Marlene is all the
family that Barrett has. 

Economics: Not rich, but doesn't seem to care much for money. Should the
situation arise, however, where money is needed for Marlene's concern, no doubt
he will do anything to get the Gil, even stealing it. 

Sex: This part will take a while, since he hasn't been with anyone ever since the
death of his wife, Mina. If he sees you can give him the time and affection he's lost
since Mina's death, then you've crossed the finish line. 

Overall: An aqquired taste, but he's a nice guy and means well. 





                                 Red XIII
                                   (Nanaki)

Looks: Personally, I would be willing to bet that Red is a male. He's quite beautiful
(for a beast), and seems to have a liking for hair accessories. That fiery colour of
his fur looks cool, too. Since his kind live well beyond 500 years, he is still rather
young (48). 

Smarts: At first when the party discovers him, he appears to be only an normal
beast. But, as they learn later, he is very intellectual and wise. Coming from
Cosmo Canyon, a place famous for knowledge on the Stars, Red is an astronomer,
no less. 

Personality: The experiments that ShinRa conducted on him have made Red
slightly bitter, but usually, he's quite friendly and social. I guess he wanted others
to think of him as a cool, wiser being, but as soon as he reunited with his friends at
Cosmo Canyon, he reverted to his true self: a bouncy young adolescent named
Nanaki. He is prone is crying sometimes, though, in which case Tifa has to tell him
"Stop sniffling!!" He seeks shelter from direct sunlight, as he is weak to heat. 

Cooking: Cook? He's a beast, for crying out loud! He hunts what he needs. 

Fighting Skills: All-the-way clawing and biting. He's good with Fire spells too,
despite his weakness to heat. 

Special Abilities: Lives for a much longer period than humans. 

Competition: None known, but 500 years later, he has two kids accompanying him
to visit the changed Midgar, so I would think he's gotten married. There's not
much you can do about that. 

In-Laws: His parents are both dead, and Bugen Hagen and the people of Cosmo
Canyon are the only family he's got. 

Economics: None, but it's not as if he needs any money. 

Sex: Um, need I remind you that Red is an animal? Unless you've got a Henshin
Materia that turns beasts into humans, or you don't mind sleeping with a beast,
then I suggest you give this one up. 

Overall: If you're a beast of his kind, great choice. Otherwise, go see a shrink. 





                                 Cait Sith

Looks: Cute as a cat-robot, and rides on a fat, stuffed Moogle. His
"alternate/human-form" is Reeve, who is kinda cool. 

Smarts: Working at the Golden Saucer, he's picked up useful tips on persuading
customers to have their fortunes told. For a robot, he's pretty smart. And he
probably knows all types of fortune telling (astrology, cards, crystal balls,
whatever). 

Personality: He practically lives at the Golden Saucer, so life's a celebration for
him. Doesn't look like it, but he can be serious, and he cares for those close to him.

Cooking: None. Probably the only nourishment he might need is a fresh recharge
or new battery every now and then. 

Fighting Skills: He shouts orders to the Moogle to do direct fighting, and his
attacks are based on gambles and chance. (Think Setzer from FFIII). But he's not
your best choice for battles. 

Special Abilities: When one body is destroyed, a new one appears just as quickly. 

Competition: Absolutely none. 

In-Laws: Being manufactured, Reeve is probably the only "connection" he's got. 

Economics: He does well in the fortune-telling business, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Sex: Your only choices are to either forget the whole thing, bite the bullet and go
for it (not recommended), or that you both jack into the Internet and do things the
cyber-way. 

Overall: NOT the best choice for anyone. Good as a friend, but don't look for
more than that. 





                             Yuffie Kisaragi

Looks: Still skinny, but her cute short-cut hair makes up for that. Almost always
smiling, except for when she's aboard the airship. Then, except to find her turn into
interesting shades of green. Coming from a highly traditional Ninja clan, she dons a
very UN-traditional outfit. She was attractive enough to catch Corneo's eye (wait a
minute, that damn lecher goes for ANY girl!-_-) 

Smarts: Though she is a Kunoichi, she doesn't know all of the basic Ninja skills
(eg., Nawanuke, which is to escape from a tied-up position). She ceratinley is
extremely cunning and shrewd, and handles most Ninja weapons with ease. 

Personality: Sneaky, sly, greedy, selfish and manipulative. Does most things for
money, or just plain amusement. She has a large ego, and a self-confidence of
equal size. Very outgoing and bright, but she may have a shy side towards a guy
she likes (Ever seen the gondola scene if you have her and Cloud go out?) She
speaks in a very "rough-countryside" Japanese dialect, calling herself "Atai", which
is a rather sloppy way of referring to oneself. She also has a rather hilarious
motion-sickness problem to flying (and maybe sea?) vehicles. 

Cooking: Being a Kunoichi, I suppose she'll manage the basics and rice-based
foods such as onigiri. 

Fighting Skills: While she can do formidably against a street thug, a highly skilled
opponent would probably take her down soon enough; although her pride would be
crushed to accept defeat. However, I'm sure she'll quickly improve with
experience. 

Special Abilities: None. 

Competition: None, but if any, I might think Vincent. These two seem to make a
nice match. Now this is just my own personal opinion, so the official answer is no,
you've got no competition. 

In-Laws: Her father still lives, but he'll challenge you to a match first to prove your
worth. If you can beat him, you'll probably have his blessing. 

Economics: Whatever she needs, she'll find and/or make on her own, or just steal
it. ^_^ 

Sex: She's underaged, so you'll have to wait a while. Then again, her curiosity may
get the better of her, but be prepared for her raging father afterwards. When it does
happen, she'd be nervous but eager to please as well. After the first time, however,
I think SHE will prefer to take charge. 

Overall: Well, she CAN (and usually is) a huge pain in the ass, but on the bright
sude, life with her will definitley not be boring. Even if you do tie the knot, she
might want to see the world and adventure before settling down. All in all, she is a
very fun character. Just be sure to travel on LAND.^_^ 





                              Cid Highwind

Looks: Roughing it. Messy blonde hair, avergae height, and a stubbly beard. Has a
pack of cigarettes stuffed in between the strap of his goggles. 

Smarts: Knows practically any vehicle ever built, and almost became ShinRa's
astronaut. A skilled mechanic and pilot. His appearance and tone of speech hint
otherwise, though. 

Personality: Full of confidence, arrogant, and always speaks with a foul mouth;
similar to Barrett in many ways. Loves cigarettes. The first encounter with him will
make you think he's a jerk, but underneath the coarse facade, he has a heart of
gold. 

Cooking: None, he has Shera do all that for him. 

Fighting Skills: He could manage to duke it out with a few thugs, but prefers
fighting with lances and spears. 

Special Abilities: He smokes a million cigarettes through the entire game, and not
one trace of breathing problems.^_^ Some of his Limit Breaks feature him doing
extremley high jumps. 

Competition: Shera, a devoted friend. She was the reason that Cid couldn't
become an astronaut for ShinRa. He chose to save her life rather than take it to
fulfill his dream. Shiera does care for him, which was the reason that she almost
died int eh first place. Cid at first only considered her as a lowly slave, and treated
her like one, but nearing the end, he shows that she is special to him. 

In-Laws: None. 

Economics: Apparantley he doesn't have a job. But he doesn't seem to really have
a need for it. 

Sex: May joke about it at first, but speaking seriously he would probably (I've used
this word so many times) wait until the right moment. Then, it would be fast and
intense. 

Overall: If you love mechanics and airships, he's for you. 





                           Vincent Valentine

Looks: Tall and very kakkoii. Smooth black hair and dark clothes are always
popular! (To me, at least). Beautiful crimson cape, too.^_^ 

Smarts: Well, he WAS formerly a Turk, and I doubt that any idiot can join that
group, so I'd definitley say way above average. Those experiments probably added
some intelligence, and he's had a lot of time to think while sleeping in that coffin!
Though he's (physically) 27, he is mentally a lot older and wiser. 

Personality: Shrouded in mystery. Cool and collective. Even more so than Cloud.
But then, losing the woman you love to a wacko mad-scientist would do that to ya.
Plus he has a very dark past (don't they all?), and since he has nothing to lose, that
makes him even more dangerous (and more attractive!^_^) 

Cooking: As if! Well, he might do okay, but not well enough to open a restaurant.
And I doubt he's the type that eats a lot. 

Fighting Skills: He's a wicked gunman, but you'd be making a better choice to just
leave him with firearms rather than hand-to-hand. 

Special Abilities: His Limit Breaks have him transform into various monsters. And
he's nocturnal, so no honeymoons to Hawaii! (during the day, at least). 

Competition: None. His only love Lukrecia isn't in much position to do anything to
stop you, but he's still in love with her, so it may take a while to get him to see
you... 

In-Laws: None. His parents are definitley deceased by now. 

Economics: None, but the two of you might do very well if you become hired
hit-men/hit-couple. You'll save money on a bed; he sleeps in a coffin!^_^ 

Sex: VERY difficult to say. Despite the fact that he is most likely a virgin (after all
those years), it's gonna be taking a long time for him to get over Lukrecia. Stand
by him, and help ease his pain. He's the sensitive type, so show him that you care.
Being a Libra (birthday October 13th), he's sure to be romantic and thoughtful
towards the one he loves. 

Overall: A very emotional challenge, for the both of you. By trying to find out
more about him, you'll discover more about yourself as well.
