Based loosely on the Highlander movies and TV series, this Champions Adventure takes place in a world where some possess the gift of immortality. Philip Takeo is one of those, having been born over five hundred years ago. Philip recognizes that Mitch also has this gift, though it is still dormant in him, awaiting the day he is mortally wounded.
Philip Takeo
Born 1490 AD, Philip learned of his own immortality from Kafka, an immortal in his fathers retinue. Philip was approx. 22 years old when he 'died' in a fight that ended the life of his father's murderer, The evil warlord Shinobi-Kon.
Mitch Sinclair
The new immortal on the block, Mitch "died" in September 1996, when he was used by another immortal to lure Philip into a confrontation.
Mitch is a graphic artist by profession and quite proficient with both his martial arts and the custom sword he uses.
Dr. Laurence Stern
Another secret organization called The Watchers exists to watch and record the lives of the immortals. Laurence Stern, a police forensics expert, is a member of this group and is currently assigned to watch Philip. After Philip discovered the existence of The Watchers, Stern recruited Philip to help with especially difficult cases.
Lori Myrion
A childhood playmate of Mitch's from Nanaimo, who is now a successful interior design artist. Lori was recently "killed" by an evil immortal and her immortality was revealed. Since then, she has sought training from some of the other female immortals.
Janet
Philip's fiancé, who is currently planning their wedding.
Frisco
Mitch's usually helpful contact for information on the street.
Stephen Leung
Born in the territory that is now known as China in approximately 2490BC. Stephen was fifty-four years old when he was 'killed' defending his land from invading Mongols. He wandered through China for centuries, observing history unfolding, and growing
restless to explore beyond his native land. His opportunity came
unexpectedly while he was studying astronomy with a group of men. They had located an incredible phenomenon in the western sky and had tied it to the legend of the birth of a great king in a distant land. At the very last minute, Stephen had been selected to go with the group and was one of the few who survived the long trek to pay their homage to the new king. He'd knealt in the presence of the two-year old child that day and felt a buzz like he'd never experienced before.
This event changed Stephen's life and he left the party enroute to China and returned to Europe. He no longer sought to take the heads of immortals he encountered, desiring instead to seek out and train those who he sensed would one day become immortals. He had only killed a handful since that time, preferring to remain secluded in monasteries or other holy places. He has not taken a head in over one thousand years though he is by no means rusty with the proper use of a sword.
