Location: 22 km East-Northeast of Gdansk
About 1.5 km south of the Baltic coast
The town where the party first started the adventure is inhabited by a little over 300 people. About half of them have been severely affected by the war, and the news of the destruction of Gdansk, and have become simple minded and primitive. The town itself has been the sight of some fighting, and hase taken moderate damage to most of its buildings. About one out of every 5 buildings is still intact, but even then, there is signs of battle damage, and most of the windows are broken. The other buildings are either piles of rubble, or burnt out shells. This is typically where the "primitive" folk live, and they dislike outsiders who poke around too much. Otherwise, the primitives will keep to themselves, just watching from the shadows. Most of the respectable and more level headed citizens of the town steer clear of the ruins, and try and keep to themselves. An unnamed few have befriended Campbell and assist him when necessary.
There is a detatchment of 35 Soviet troops in this town, but they keep mainly to the city center where a majority of the buildings are intact. Once a day, a patrol of 8 sweep through the center of town, and even out into the ruined outskirts, just to see if anything seems out of place. If they spot Americans, they will certainly steer clear of them, but report their prescence to Stehnkov.
Hiding in the old railway station that sits on the outskirts of town is a KGB detatchment. They have heard of Stehnkov's plans and intend to take control of the operation from Stehnkov. They will not trust anything the Americans tell them, and will most likely shoot the Americans as enemies. The KGB has about 8 men at the railways station, and another 12 working undercover throughout Stehnkov's operation. Some of the agents are even posing as townspeople. They will report any sightings of the Americans to their leader, a man named Mikhail Brovich. The KGB has also got a 12 man Spetsnaz team with them at the railway station, that will be used as the strike unit when they think the time is right to eliminate Stehnkov.
The intention of Brovich is to take control of Stehnkov's operation and orchestrate the attack in conjunction with a renewed offensive by the Soviet Army. Brovich will not launch the operation without proper authorization from higher authority. He feels that Stehnkov is a loose cannon that needs to be dealt with.
