As head of the resistance group AVALANCHE, he's leading the fight against Shinra's efforts to suck the life out of the planet. He hails from Corel, a town destroyed as a result of the Shinra's early Mako Reactors. Nonetheless, he still blames himself for the outcome of these events. An emotional character, Barret assets include his brute strength and his "Gun-arm." Having lost his wife in an accident several years ago, Barret must raise daughter Marlene alone and regrets that the epic struggle often requires him to be away from her. Though he performs well in either rank, Barret is most valuable in the back, where he can do considerable damage and remain protected. Be aware that certain Materia reduces his hit points and strength, which is especially important if you want to use him as a damage magnet later on.
