Final Fantasy VII is really Cloud's story. A former member of Shinra's elite squad SOLDIER, he is now a mercenary in high demand due to his formidable fighting skills. After joining the rebel group AVALANCHE, he gradually gets caught up the struggle for the life of the planet. Cloud suffers from partial amnesia, due to an accident from years back in his hometown, which involved Shinra. In order to recover, he searches for Sephiroth, his childhood idol. Due to his expert sword technique (and the sword itself, which can cut anything in two), you'll want to keep Cloud in your front line much of the time. Though his magic skills are good, avoid equipping him with too much Materia.
