ADDITIONAL INFO

Saunders at KURSK

Saunders woke up suddenly and realised that it was only Volga. The dog had a habit of waking him up when things were about to happen. He got up, picked up his rifle and went to see if anything was happening. He walked around the corner and saw Victor, who saluted and asked "Why are you up so early?" Saunders replied "Yeah, Volga woke me up for some reason." With that, PvtKhyron shouted "To arms!" and with the whole area became alive with soldiers arming themselves.

Saunders’ men started to prepare for battle, and took their positions. Saunders grabbed his FG-42 and started to prepare his rag tag group of soldiers into a fighting force.

Snipers took positions up in the high buildings. Then, one of the snipers shouted in warning, "Tanks! Big tanks! Bloody big tanks!" Saunders cursed, "Get those buchse into position! And get those molotovs handed out!" Then a single shot rang out, followed by a shout of "SNIPER!", which marked the arrival of the Germans. Then they heard the sounds of assault rifles, which meant it was no ordinary unit but FJ troops. Saunders got into position along with his men and a few seconds later troops entered his field of fire. He let loose with his FG-42, firing bursts into the area from which they came, hitting 2 and making 4 more duck for cover.

The return fire was wild and heavy. A lot MG and SMG fire was coming towards him, so he ducked down and moved to a new position. A few seconds later, the rubble where he had been hiding was clouded from his vision by dust. "They must have a support gun following them", he muttered to himself. He gave a whistle, and one of the buchse teams moved into a prepared firing position. Saunders grabbed and few grenades and primed them for 5 second detonation. Then, he lobbed them high overhead into where the enemy had taken cover. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! "ARRRGGGGHHHHH!", came the reply he was waiting for. He had killed some.

A few partisans joined him, running for cover in the rubble, when the hiss and smell of burning petroleum hit him. Before he could turn around, he heard screams of pain as the militia behind him got caught in the fall of the flame. Then about a dozen camouflaged troops ran around to take position. They ducked down amidst the burning remains of the militia and debris. Then, a few more troops ran forward and dropped down and set up a heavy MG-42. They ducked as a Maxim opened fire. The MG-42 and the Maxim were in a firing duel which lasted for about 30 seconds, until a Stuh-42 rumbled through the rubble. It was still aiming when the buchse opened fire. It was hit, and a small bang was followed by a colossal explosion as the munitions blew up.

As the smoke started to clear, Saunders saw the remains of the tank: a chassis and not much else. Reality started to sink in, and he realised that he had been motionless for a few seconds. He started to crawl back away when 8 of the camouflaged troops came running towards him. He let loose his FG-42, bringing 5 of them down. He dropped the gun and grabbed his knife, poised for combat. One of the three coming towards him suddenly dropped dead, killed by a sniper. He lunged at another hitting him in the arm. The third was about to swing his knife when Volga pounced on him and bit deep into his arm. The soldier was screaming at the dog to stop while Saunders managed to get two blows into the last soldier’s chest.

Then he called Volga and they ran back to the rest of the unit. were he picked up a ppsh and readied himself for the next assault, which didnt happen for another 8 hours, he spoke to molo to see if he had any kills and molo said he had toasted a flammen unit with a molotov saying the only way to face fire is with fire
