Affected by the fumes, dizzy and a little nauseous, you consider it. Liz and the others won't leave the villagers to their fate on the southern slopes and you can't abandon them. If you can open this fissure a little wider the main eruption might be reduced to almost nothing, at the very least some of the lava flows might be able to escape in this direction and spare the villages.
[Just a little more, TIM.] You murmur vaguely, only half aware of his protests.
You stretch out your mind, feeling, pushing. Again you feel the fissure shift and are caught in another blast of volcanic gases, this one more forceful than the last. It knocks you to the ground and as you lie on the quaking ground you feel the flow followed by a churning mass of gas and splintered rock.
