One last view of the platform of Wood Lane westbound, curving away into the distance. Interesting fact: at one stage this platform had a moving extention which would swing into place if the points were set for through trains and would swing out of the way if a train was continuing around the tight bend to the depot. The platform itself was too short to accommodate a full train because of the depot access line which diverges from the main line part way along the platform. |

Wood Lane depot and the tracks which lead through into the westbound platform at Wood Lane. |
The generator halls of the Central London Railway. From here power was fed into the rails of the line. London Underground now draws power direct from the National Grid leaving this hall and its neighbour vacant and available for other projects. The climax of the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was filmed in this building... |

...And featured this winch-hook type device (overhead crane). Notice the same cream and dark-green tile colour scheme as inside Wood Lane station. Fortunately these buildings are listed and may survive the redevelopment. |
And finally, the familiar facade of Wood Lane station as seen from above ground. The eastbound platform is almost directly below this building which, sadly, will soon be demolished. The facade has now been dismantled and moved to the London Transport Museum's Acton Town depot for conservation. |

And that concludes our photo tour of the Wood Lane area! I hope you enjoyed it - I'm just pleased that I could make a record of all these amazing sights shortly before their destuction - Elizabeth. |
