Jitsu FAQAre there regular gradings? The Foundation organizes gradings every 6 months. Grading is by no means automatic; it is earned. To be eligible for a grading, you must meet the strict "CRITERIA" and be nominated by your Club Instructor. Finally, you must perform very well on the day as just turning up does not mean you will get your desired grade. We are sometimes asked how long it will take to get a black belt, and if this is all that interests you about Jitsu, it might be a good idea to look elsewhere. It takes a minimum of three year's hard training to get a brown belt in our style, and most people take much longer than that. Then two years of both hard training and teaching before you are eligible for a black belt grading -- and, again, many take much longer. If you want a quick black belt, Jitsu is definitely not for you. If you want to learn how to fight and defend yourself, then Jitsu certainly is for you. |
