The image on the left was shot on colour processed b/w Kodak 400. It comes out with green tint due to the colour processing but has an intersting look.
The picture below was shot on the same film but is digitally encoded in greyscale as a comparison.
JEEPERS CREEPERS
A tangle of vines from a strangler fig in the heart of the Christmas Island rainforest. Some of the trees here are hundreds of years old with 70% of the jungle untouched since forming 65 million years ago.
In the main street of Christmas Island - the ruins of the old gaol and the nurses quarters - known locally as "The Virgins' Castle." (below)
Christmas Island is an arrival point for refugees. Despite the Australian government's attitude to refugee asylum seekers most people on Christmas Island are very supportive and eager to assist their fellow human beings who have become so desperate through fear and violence.
Out the back of the "tin shed" the refugees hang out washing under the eyes of the Federal Police. Life for the asylum seekers is absolutely miserable and it must be terrible to flee from terror only to find yourself locked away in what really is nothing more than a concentration camp for the disposessed victims of tyranny.
