Sick of long distance bills? Well here you go: free information about us at .00 cents a minute! Feb. 21, 2002: So I still haven't gotten this web page up. In fact it was buried in some files so when I was cleaning the place up a bit, I ran across this web page. Let's all hope it works this time. As far as news goes, Ashley has been working in Phoenix as a genetic counselor since October, 2001. She loves her job. Since she is in Phoenix 5 days a week, I got a bit lonely, so now Sadie & Chloe keep me company. (See the Photo Album) We adopted them in October and they have been good companions (not PERFECT mind you, but good) and we love them dearly. They are both Tabby (read: Mutts) cats; females (read: so they don't pee on our carpets and furniture like male cats do sometimes). The fun thing about them are their different personalities: Sadie is laid back but has a mischevious streak; Chloe is much more behaved as far as not getting into trouble (read: getting on the table, hopping up on the kitchen counter and stealing the sponge and then tearing it up) but she whines like mad. 6:30 AM? Chloe lets me know its almost time for class. Thanks Chloe... grrrrrrr. On my front, I recently accepted a position with Bonnett, Fairbourn, Friedman & Balint, PC. I start in Sept. I am really looking forward to working there b/c they are a great group of people and also wonderful attorneys. My law review note will be published this summer, so those of you w/ access to a library can look up the summer issue of the Arizona Law Review and see my little piece. Its about Napster's rise and fall as well as why the record companies will not be able to the digital music extravaganza. I'm still clerking (while in Law School) at Mesch, Clark & Rothschild. I am also doing a 38(e) clinic (that means I get to practice law under the watchful eye of another attorney) with the Tucson City Prosecutors office. My first trial is Friday, Feb 22nd. I'll try to remember to update you on what happens. See you later. July 17, 2001: We are finishing up our summer and are gearing up for our vacation to San Diego with the Ryan's. I (T.J.) have spent the summer working with a firm in Tucson: Mesch, Clark & Rothschild, P.C. They are a general civil litigation firm with specialties in Bankruptcy, Construction, Commercial litigation, & Civil defense. It has been a pleasure to work with these attorneys since they are regarded as being one of the best (if not the best) in Tucson. Lowell Rothschild, the patriarch of the firm, has been practicing law for 45 years. Talk about a wealth of legal experience. I had the pleasure of traveling with him to Phoenix for a hearing in bankruptcy court. During the 2 hour trip, LER (as he is known around the office) told me stories of how the practice of law has changed since he was a law clerk and some of the interesting situations he has been in. Outside of the office, I have been keeping busy getting geared up for my third year of law school. Supposedly (as the old saying goes) this year will be the "bored to death" year. (The three years of law school are described, quite aptly I might add, as "Scared to Death, Worked to Death, Bored to Death." If you are still confused, seek out and ask any lawyer; they will know what you are talking about.) I was elected Executive Note Editor for the Arizona Law Review this last spring and have been acting as the de facto Business Editor for the Law Review. Mostly, I was handling the copyright issues, reprint requests for articles and other miscellaneous things that happened to pop up along the way. Additionally, I continue to aid Professor Winton Woods at the College of Law on the Law Office & Courtroom of the Future Project. Currently, we are redesigning the office computer system to be as up to date as possible. Our goal is to be able to create an enviroment where students can learn the technology skills they need to use technology effectively and efficiently in the practice of law. I have been developing a web page and hope to unveil it soon. (I'll include the link from this site, don't worry about that.) Ashley has been enjoying her last summer break before she has to suit up and join the rat race as a professional. She has been savoring the time off after finishing up her Master's degree in Genetic Counseling. (If you want to know what that is, email her... or maybe I'll have her write a summary for you at some point.) She was given some golf lessons for her graduation and so has been learning the game from a local pro. As with anything she does, she has attacked learning the game with zeal and determination. We just wish range balls were free! Watch out LPGA! Enough for now... I'll update more later. Check back soon!
