Our 1984 Goldwing Aspencade 1200
In August, 2001, I located the bike on eBay. It's owner lived just outside Wenatchee, Washington (about 150 miles from Seattle). As you can see, its fully dressed and came with a trailer and has only 11,000 original miles on it. My son-in-law (a Goldwing 1500 owner) rode it home for me
Resisting the temptation to ride it, I patiently waited for an opening in the Motorcycle Safety Class which in my state is funded by motorcycle license registrations and class fees, I was finally able to take the class in the third week of January, 2002. The class gave me a full appreciation of the safety issues of riding and taught me the basic skills to get started. So, with my new motorcycle endorsement, I've been able to take it out for a few short rides to build my confidence. I'm looking forward to more cruising.
As an update, as of 11/28/02, we've put some 12,500 miles on the 1200. We've been in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. I've upgraded the front suspension to Progressive Springs, installed a VENCO (http://www.vencowings.com) voltmeter and a GARMIN GPS V. We've really enjoyed riding this year for the first time in both of our lives. Well one thing led to another and now we're the proud owners of another Goldwing.
