Sermon Notes
You DO NOT have to be a VICTIM
Genesis 3:1-5
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
[2] And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
[3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
[4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
[5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3:8-16
And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
[9] And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
[10] And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. [11] And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
[12] And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
[13] And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
DON’T BECOME A VICTIM !
INTRO -- THERE IS A PUSH TODAY TO PROTECT OUR INDENITY -- AND OTHER CRIMES THAT PREVENT US FROM BECOMING A VICTIM . THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT BEING A VICTIM
WHERE IT BE A CRIMINAL OR THE GREATEST CRIMNAL OF ALL THE DEVIL .
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
WE HAVE HERE IN THE TEXT HOW SATAN LEAD EVE INTO BECOMING FOR A WHILE A VICTIM -- AND BRINGING A HARM THIS WORLD HAS NEVER GOTTEN OVER AMD WANT UNTILJESUS COMES TO RULE AND REIGN BEGUILED MEANS : \ to lead astray, i.e. (mentally) to delude, or (morally) to seduce beguile, deceive, × greatly, × utterly.
ACCORDING THE VERSE WE JUST READ GOD WANTS US TO LIVE LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY
WE SING OF VICTORY AND YET FOR MANY THEY LIVE AS DEFEATED AND VICTIMS IF YOU WILL .
IF I SEEM TO BE CRITICAL -- THEN SIMPLY LISTEN TO THEM TALK A WHILE -- AND YOU WILL SOON RELALIZE WHAT I’M SAYING !
NOTE : EVE DIDN’T HAVE TO SIN ---- ADAM DIDN’T HAVE TO SIN !
NOT GOING TO DWELL HERE LONG-ALLOW ME TO SHOW YOU THE PATH THEY TOOK-THIS NEVER CHANGES!

B- CHOICE
Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
C - JUSTIFICATION
Genesis 3:11-15 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? [12] And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. [13] And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
1 - COMPROMISED TRUTH
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Genesis 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Isaiah 59:14-15 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. [15] Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
JUSTICE : rightness moral (virtue) or figurative (prosperity) :- justice, moderately, right (-eous) (act, -ly, -ness).
Psalm 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
SHE WASN’T IGNORANT OF TRUTH AND SHE WASN’T READY FOR THE INJURY TO COME
1 - COMPROMISED TRUTH
2 - CEASED TO BE THANKFUL
Psalm 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Col. 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
1 Thes. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Psalm 92:1-2 A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: [2] To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night
You can learn to give thanks even if you don’t feel particularly thankful. If God gives a command, he expects obedience, whether you are in the mood or not. Thankfulness, like forgiveness, is not an emotion. Thankfulness is an intelligent response of gratitude to God.ERWIN W. LUTZER (1941– )
From David learn to give thanks for everything. Every furrow in the book of Psalms is sown with the seeds of thanksgiving.
JEREMY TAYLOR (1613–1667)
Life without thankfulness is devoid of love and passion.
Hope without thankfulness is lacking in fine perception.
Faith without thankfulness lacks strength and fortitude.
Every virtue divorced from thankfulness is maimed and limps along the spiritual road.
JOHN HENRY JOWETT (1864–1923)

3 - CONCLUSION -- JUST TRUST
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Psalm 118:8-9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. [9] It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes. The highest pinnacle of the spiritual life is not happy joy in unbroken sunshine, but absolute and undoubting trust in the love of God.
Trustfulness is based on confidence in God, whose ways I do not understand. If I did, there would be no need for trust.
OSWALD CHAMBERS (1874–1917)
What we need very badly these days is a company of Christians who are prepared to trust God as completely now as they know they must do at the last day. For each of us the time is coming when we shall have nothing but God. Health and wealth and friends and hiding places will be swept away, and we shall have only God. To the man of pseudo faith that is a terrifying thought, but to real faith it is one of the most comforting thoughts the heart can entertain. A. W. TOZER (1897–1963)
Note: HEAR WHAT DAVID HAD TO SAY !
Psalm 31:10-15 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed. [11] I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me. [12] I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel. [13] For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life. [14] But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God. [15] My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
Psalm 91:2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A VICTIM !
The first step on the way to victory is to recognize the enemy.CORRIE TEN BOOM (1892–1983)
The triumphant Christian does not fight for victory; he celebrates a victory already won. The victorious life is Christ’s business, not yours.REGINALD WALLIS
