What is Bridgekeeper?
BridgeKeeper (currently version 1.4) is a scoring widget for bridge. I will add some bridge links soon enough, just in case you got here without knowing much about it. In any case, BridgeKeeper can be handy when scoring hands at home. Here's a quick look at what it does and what will be added to upcoming releases.

The user enters the level, denomination, doubled status, vulnerability, and result of a contract; BridgeKeeper displays the score for the hand. While a great deal of social bridge, including that played on such sites as Yahoo! Games, uses rubber scoring instead of duplicate scoring, the basic information is still useful.

I will be adding a rubber scoring option in version 2.0, but that probably won't arrive before 2006. I am also considering adding a Chicago option and a multi-table duplicate option (with a printable file output). These last two scoring methods are still up in the air, and a widget may not be the right method for implementing them. We shall see, however.

For now, take a look around, check out the various pages I have, and give the widget a try. If you don't yet play bridge, this is a perfect time to learn. The "Movie" link on the left will take you to a page with a 616k Quicktime movie of the widget in action. The "Notes" link has my notes (formatted like Javascript comments) on the Javascript file. While serious developers will get little, if anything, from the notes, my fellow amateur coders may find a useful tidbit or two. Bridge players may even be able to pull out a couple of handy pieces of info there.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to send me an email. I'm always happy to hear from folks.
