INTRODUCTION TO CAMCORDER PARTS

Use the illustrations and the descriptions below to complete the Camcorder Identification Sheet. This is a description of the Panasonic AG-196-UP Camcorder. This camcorder is a full size VHS. That means that it uses a standard VHS tape like the one you would use in your VCR at home. The camcorder is a dual function machine. It has the capability of being used as a camera and recorder to record raw video footage. However, the camcorder may also be used as a "source deck" for video editing. This means that the camcorder is attached to another deck, to a video editing console, or video effects processor. The video can then be edited, or titling may be superimposed over the video image. Try to become familiar with as many parts as possible, since you will be handling and operating the camcorder, and you will also be tested on this material.

Controls and Functions (Continued)

That's a lot to remember! However, when you are tested on this, you will only be tested on the major components and the main functions. As you work with the camcorder, you will become more familiar with the controls. If you are working in a group, be sure to take a turn operating the camcorder. This way, you will learn the controls and what they do. Have fun!
