| Saturday, July 14, 2001 I’m missing a few posts from June. I switched computers and I thought I got the latest ones, but I guess not. I’ll have to get them off when I give that computer to Larry. I just received the certification back from the SOS on the addendum. On Monday, I will send it off to the Chinese Consulate in Houston to be authenticated. Hopefully this will satisfy any questions CCAA has about my being single. It was a very surreal experience to be back in the paperchasing phase after all this time. I got out my yellow binder and made my checklist and off I went to Pack n Mail. I had that same old panicky feeling when handing over the package. Did I do everything right? Should I send it express or regular? When I was at my credit union getting the money orders for the cert. & aut. on the addendum, I asked the teller about getting brand new hundred dollar bills for the orphanage donation. She told me they don’t receive new bills. She said we could go through the bills and look for good ones. She took out a handful to show me but they all looked old and terrible. So, I called them later and talked to Phyllis, the notary at the credit union that did most of my paperwork, and she checked into it for me. They called me later and said they had just gotten in a shipment of brand new hundreds. So, I’m going to go up there Monday and open a safe deposit box and put the donation money in there. One more thing checked off the “to do” list! We finished painting the toy box for Mykayla’s room. It turned out so cute! I painted it all white and then Sherry has been coming over and we have been painting it with pastel bugs—ladybugs, butterflies, bees, etc. I filled it with her toys (still in the boxes) and the nursery is now finished. Some of the walls are still a little bare, but I think I will leave those for decorations and souvenirs from China. We are still waiting on the July referrals. There hasn’t even been any rumors yet of when they are coming. The only good rumor right now was just posted on the September group list from the lady who is over there right now in Beijing. She has been working in China this summer and they were able to expedite her referral so she could get her daughter before going home to England. Yesterday, she sent an email to the group that she had visited the CCAA, on a whim, and was received there very kindly. They told her that they should be matching the September group NEXT MONTH!!!! I want to believe this but I’m also scared to believe it. GWCA says that they are only matching through end of August next month. That would mean possibly a September referral but more likely October since I’m DTC at the end of September and they are likely to split the month. Tuesday, July 31, 2001 The July referrals started coming in last week! They have been trickling in a few each day on the APC list. GWCA still says it is just August for next month. We are still waiting to hear if a few September dossiers get put in with that batch. I will be very happy if I get my referral in September. I think this wait is starting to get to me. I think I’m depressed, but then I don’t feel really down, just very distracted and remote. It’s hard to put it into words. I feel like I’m in some sort of limbo until this referral happens – then my life can start. When I went back to the bank to get a safe deposit box and put the “new” bills in, I was told they had no available boxes! I didn’t know what to do—like I said before, my brain is getting kind of mushy these days. The teller (Nina, better remember that name) said she would just put the bills on hold for me. I hope that works! |
