| Friday, August 03, 2001 Things are starting to get exciting! We’ve had several pieces of news in the last few days, and all of it has been good. Thank goodness! First, I noticed in the July referrals that just came in that I didn’t see any reports of singles being passed over. This was confirmed by several of the large agencies through my Sept. DTC group. My agency also just posted that for the group that is in the matching room there are 11 singles and that their china office has indicated that they will be matched with this group. They said there was one married couple that didn’t get their requested information back in time that will not make this group. I’m wondering if the addendums we were requested to get done must be what China wants to see, so maybe that is why no more holdups for singles. Of course, that is just one month, so not really a trend yet. My paperwork is in the review room. I can’t believe I finally get to say that. I am walking around with butterflies in my stomach. I cannot imagine what I am going to feel like when they tell me it’s been moved to the matching room – or when they call with the referral! Tuesday, August 07, 2001 More good news! Today I got confirmation that my dossier cleared the review room. Posted on my agency list, there was an update on the new CCAA regulations. Not really news, but just that they received information from their China office that CCAA confirmed that there really were no changes in how matches are being made and they expect singles and those with multiple children to still receive referrals. That’s good news. But then they also said that they confirmed August was in the matching room and September had cleared the review room. I emailed to Leigh Anne for confirmation that that meant my dossier had not been pulled or requested for more info. She emailed me back very quickly that those that had been requested more information from had already been notified, so it looks like I’m clear for a referral!!!!!! She wasn’t able to tell me if the month of September was going to be split. Hopefully they will hear something soon. Wednesday, August 29, 2001 What a month! I received an email yesterday from GWCA that they have received confirmation from China that ALL of September is in the matching room! They expect to get these referrals by the end of September. It’s hard to put what I am feeling into words. Every time I think about getting that call, I get major butterflies in my stomach. I feel like I have been walking around this month in a fog. The start of school has kept me very busy, which is good. Songs on the radio set me off to crying almost every day. Silly, I know, but I just can’t help it. Sometimes in the middle of the day when things are really busy and hectic I just want to say, “Stop everything! I don’t want to think about or do another thing until they put my daughter in my arms!” Saturday, September 01, 2001 It’s finally September! This is the month I will hear about my daughter. The speculation from all the lists is that we should hear something the week of the 17th. Of course, GWCA will not give an estimate or make a guess. They are very conservative, which is good I guess. Tonight I went to Toys R Us and used my gift card from my shower to buy bottles (finally decided on Avent), some child proofing stuff, and a very soft blanket to send to the orphanage in the care package. I’m still looking for a little soft doll to put in there also. I better find that soon! Even now, after a year of waiting, I still sometimes feel self concious in the baby aisle. It’s almost a guilty feeling. I feel like someone will walk up to me and say, “You’re not pregnant, what are you doing in this section?” Silly, I know. Next weekend Sherry and I are going to Austin for a workshop/travel meeting with my agency. There is going to be a woman there who is an expert in attachment/bonding. They will also talk about travel and answer questions about that. Hopefully we will get to meet some of the people that will eventually be in our travel group. My biggest question is WHEN will we travel. If we get referrals the week of Sept. 17th, then the usual 5 or so weeks to travel puts us right in the middle of trade fair in China. That’s the last two weeks of October. So much if/then speculation. I’m ready to KNOW. It’s getting close! |
