philosophical ramblings

When I finished my painting degree, I was painting really big abstract canvases.  I decided after realizing the influence that Kevin Graham (fellow painter and patron) had on my philosophy of art that big gigantic abstract paintings were impractical and somewhat dated.  Kevin was a big fan of the Mexican Muralists whose intentions were to bring about artwork for the common man.  They accomplished this by painting murals.  I also believe that Art should reach out toward the common man.  I attempt to reach the common man by using a cartoonish style that is easily understood by everyone.  This is in stark contrast to the imaginary language that the elitist artist and art critic invented to fuel abstract artwork.  I also believe that artwork should be fun and interesting, instead of lethargic and stale.  Life is filled with unhappy stuff, but I won't paint it, unless I'm making fun of it, because I like to make fun of stuff and I also like puns and double entendres.

So look at my paintings and if you like one, buy one.  Prices are negotiable.  If you like a painting you see, you should have it, so please email me if you are interested in any of them and we can work out the price.
