Have one or two pages for each letter. Cut out and
paste pictures of objects that begin with each letter.
Bottle Chimes
Bottles- different or same size
Wooden spoon or beater made by inserting pencil into empty spool

Line up different sized
bottles. Tap gently with spoon or beater. Each size bottle will
make a different tone. If bottles are same size, fill each with a
different amount of water. Add or subtract water to make a musical
scale.
Clay Necklace
Homemade clay
Tempera
paint Toothpick Needle and
thread
Roll clay into 1/2
inch balls. Make hole in balls with toothpick. When dry, paint
the beads and string on thread. Jewelry
Dough
can be used for this
recipe.
Cut egg carton into four parts, each three sections long. Turn parts
upside down and carefully punch a pole near the bottom of the front and back of
each part. The string goes through these holes to tie the sections
together. Paint a face on one end and decorate the body. Pipe
cleaners can be added for feelers. If you use a styrofoam egg carton, you
do not need to paint. Use pens to draw the face and decorate.
Flannel Board Stiff cardboard
Piece of discarded flannel pajamas Masking tape Felt scraps in various

Cover cardboard with flannel by taping on back. Cut felt into
shapes, letters, and numbers.
Rigatoni Jewelry
Rigatoni or other kinds of macaroni
Tempera Paint or water colors
Yarn
Paint noodles with tempera. Rigatoni is great
because one piece will fit over your finger while
youpaint it. After it is dry, string noodles on yarn for a
necklace or bracelet.
Shaker Paint
1/3 cup salt 1 teaspoon dry tempera White glue in
squeeze bottle Heavy paper Empty seasoning bottle with shaker top
Put salt and tempera mixture
in shaker bottle. Outline a design on the paper with thin line of
glue. Shake paint over picture. Shake off
excess.
Yarn Wrap
Scrap of 1/2 inch thick wood
Short, small headed nails Yarn Hammer
Parent can
create a board by spacing nails about 1/2 inch apart, and hammering them into a board in a grid pattern. Child can then create
a variety of designs by wrapping yarn around the nails.
