My Heritage, My Heart

"We can only be what we give ourselves the power to be."

My heritage is something I am very proud of. I am Native American, the Cherokee tribe. You can't tell by looking at my picture, but oh how I wish I were lucky enough to have the physical features of my ancestor's, for they are truly beautiful people. But though I do not have the physical traits of my people, I have inherited something much more intense..... I have in me the passion that the Indians are so well known for. I am just now exploring and experiencing the true aspects of passion that comes deep from within one's soul. I was never allowed to explore my heart as I am now, which has shown me a whole new aspect of life. I truly believe my heritage has a lot to do with my intensity. I am a very passionate person, not only for the one I love, but in things I belive in....the things I hold dear to my heart. In my poetry, I am able to bare my heart and soul..... sometimes when I read the thing's I write, it startles me. I never knew how strong and powerful words can be..... especially when they are your own words. Thank you, to my best friend, my husband Al, for encouraging me to write the words that are aching to be heard from deep inside my soul.

"You are my sunshine when I awaken in the morning, my moonlight when I lay my head to rest... My contentness of mind in times of unease, my guiding light in the darkest hours. Since you came into my life, every moment of every day is so much more enhanced, my love. Now my life is full of rainbows and sunshine instead of the dull greyness of just existing. You bring such joy and pleasure, happiness and treasures....and such wonderful love into my heart and soul. Like the tides crashing on the sand, lover take me by the hand. You are my sun and moon and stars above.... you are my everlasting love."

"I have Indian blood in me. I have just enough white blood for you to question my honesty."
