Ranma 1/2 is about the story of a boy named Ranma and his father Genma. Ranma and Genma left the house to practice martial arts and for Ranma to get a fiancee. Ranma and Genma traveled to China where they trained.....in...the Cursed Springs. A big mistake for training grounds. Genma falls off a bamboo stick and falls into "Spring of Drowned Panda" turning him into a Panda. Ranma does the same and he falls into "Spring of Drowned Girl" turning him into a girl. Whoever falls into the cursed springs become the thing that drowned in the cursed springs. Whenever they are splashed with cold water they will become what had drowned and return to normal when they are splashed with hot water.

They then traveled to the Tendo Dojo owned by one of Genma's friend, Soun Tendo. The Dojo is called "Anything Goes Martial Arts." Mr. Tendo has three lovely daughters, Nabiki (great business woman), Kasumi (the cook), and Akane (the tom-boy). One of them is to be Ranma's fiancee....and Akane is the chosen one. Ranma nor Akane want this pre-wedding arrangement.
