Twisted

The author in the throes of linguistic calisthenics

Hi, my name is Ray and I presently live in Indonesia. Except for a five-year period in the mid- to late 1980's I have lived in Indonesia continuously since 1980. I studied electronics and fine arts, graduated from California Institute of the Arts in 1975, where I worked with computer music and kinetic sound sculpture. I also played the Javanese Gamelan while there, which drew me to Indonesia in 1980. Since that time I have also taken on a keen interest in Indonesian language. Even tongue twisters. See that tongue twisting and spinning there?

I have put bread and rice(!) on the table doing such things as playing classical music professionally (tuba was my instrument), working as an electronic design engineer (25 years), and teaching English in Indonesia. I was a manager and editor of a map production team for a major map publisher (five years). I have owned a personal computer since 1979, and first studied Fortran in 1966. I studied music composition with the late Barney Childs, James Tenney and Morton Subotnick, plus action sculpture with the late Stephan von Huene.

Since 1999 I have been running PT Zetalink Technology Indonesia, a firm that exports electronic engineering services. We have a number of qualified Indonesian engineers working for us.

I don't know why you are reading this immodest writing when there is so much more to read on the Internet, but at least you know what has influenced me in making this web site. So go and explore it and see what you can learn.
