Appearance: He is a little boy with short black hair who is always smiling.

Personality: Known as the "Heavenly Sword", Soujiro was also a natural born swordman. Every human being will have four main emotions: Joy, Anger, and Love. But Soujirou left with only joy, which is why he is always smiling. Because of his seemingly easy going appearance, many people do not see the darkness inside of him, which came about due to a long association with Shishio. He does not care if he hurts people, and will do anything that Shishio asks him to do, as was evident when Soujirou assasinated Ookubo Toshimichi.

Background: Soujirou grew up in a family that did not care about him because he did not belong to the family. He was abused and beaten regularly by his adopted alcoholic father and made fun of by his adopted older brothers. Because when Soujirou smiled and seemed happy to be beaten, the father would stop beating him, Soujirou slowly started to smile whenever something bad happened to him.

This was the case when Soujirou became a witness to Shishio killing a couple of policemen who were trying to kill Shishio. Shishio, realizing that there was a witness, decided to kill Soujirou, but because Soujirou seemed happy to be killed (he was actually so afraid he could not even run), Shishio told Soujirou that he would spare his life if Soujirou brought him food and bandages. After Soujirou brought him the food and bandages, Shishio decided to hide out in a storage shed at Soujirou's house. Soujirou's adpoted family had heard stories of a man who had killed a couple of policemen near their home, and asked Soujirou if he knew anything about it. Soujirou answered no, and smiled to himself about Shishio hiding out in their own house. For payment for hiding and feeding him, Shishio gave Soujirou his short sword, saying that Soujirou was being abused because he was weak and that only the strong survived in the world. When Soujirou's adopted mother found all the bandages missing from the house, the family realized that Soujirou was hiding the criminal that the police were after. They tried to capture Shishio, but they were killed by the 8 years old Soujirou instead. Soujirou decided to follow Shishio and soon became an expert swordsman, and a loyal follower of Shishio. As he lost all his emotions, there was no form of "KI" when he fights, thus unable to predict his movements. Soujiro is the strongest of the Ten Swords and uses skills very similiar to Kenshin's...

Making of Seta Soujirou: Like Shishio, this character would not ordinarily appear here yet, but I have gotten a lot of questions so I'll do now to avoid difficulties.

The model for Soujirou's personality -- I should not say this -- is the captain of the Shinsengumi first unit, the handsome swordsman who died young, Okita Soushi. Even the name Seta Soujirou is a parody of Okita's childhood name Okita Soujirou. There have been a lot of people reading too much into that, asking "Since he has the same name, Soujirou, could Seta be any relation to Okita?" I will say it now, the answer is no. Okita is just Seta's model. Okita Soushi is famous enough that I do not need to write about him here (Those who want to know more should go to a bookstore; I'm sure they'll have good books about him. He is very famous and popular. In the first Ruroken character poll, even though he only appeared in a couple of frames in a flashback, he came out of nowhere to take seventh.) I am taking the Okita that Shibaryou Taroushi wrote about in his novel as my model. But not the Okita from "Burning Sword", but from "Shinsengumi Keppuuryoku", in which Okita combined his important feelings as a human being with his somehow-lost fear. I know there are Shinsengumi fan angry with me for putting a character based on Okita on the enemy side, but other than the fact that he is based on "Keppuuryoku" Okita, Seta seems more like a strong bad guy to me.

Other than this model I didn't have any particular design. Instead of Okita's topknot I saw him with a cropped head, so I drew him like that. Other than that, to go with the ever-smiling face, he looks a little like a girl.
