Here are some of the important characters and their Madougu's. The characters enlisted here are just a fraction of the whole Rekka no Honou saga. Unfortunately, I'm just a novice when compared to others who really know the whole Recca universe, so I hope you benefit something from the small thing I can offer.

Recca Hanabishi is an ordinary 1st yr. HS student who have this huge
interest about the fascinating world of Ninja's. He lives with his
fostering father (Mr.
Hanabishi) who makes fireworks as a living. Recca is fast, cunning,
and resourceful like his Ninja idols when it comes to a fight. He
uses his dads fire crackers as added arsenals. His friends Domon
Ishijima and Fuuko
Kirisawa swore to defeat him for whoever beats Recca in a match, will
be his forever master. He will serve the one who beats him as a true
Ninja would serve and protect his lord.
Being a Hokage noble in the past, Recca has the ability to harness flames from his arms without the help of any Madougu's. however he uses a special tekkou (armband) to control his Hatchiryu (8 Dragons) because without it, his flames will devour him alive. |

| Yanagi Sakoshita is a beautiful, kind, innocent and naive 1st year student in the HS where Recca is. She is taking care of a bunch kindergarten at a park when she and Recca first met (as if Recca had fallen in love with Yanagi at first sight). After the accident, Recca discovered Yanagi's secret power; Healing power that is. Because both of them saved each others life (and for Recca's personal reasons), Recca pledged his loyalty as a personal Ninja of Yanagi. Upon hearing Yanagi's secret ability, Kouran Mori ordered Kurei to capture her for experimentation and this is when Recca started to feel the heat in his ass. |

| Domon Ishijima is the best friend of Recca. Although they always fight, they are still the best of friends. Domon also swore to beat Recca to have his own servant. Domon may look mean outside but when you get to know him better, he is like a sissy girl. He has this huge crush on Fuuko that is most of the time making me pity him. When he have a chance, he always tries to take advantage of Fuuko by grabbing her buns or b**bs or sometimes asking Fuuko to sleep with him, but as always Fuuko responds by putting a blackeye on his face. Inspite of him being a sissy girl, Domon has an overwhelming determination to overcome the trials that he faces. |

Dosei - This is also known as the saturn ring. This is the ring that is clipped in Domon's nose. The power of this ring is to enhance one's strenght to ten folds. This Madougu was given to Domon by Kagehoushi to help Recca rescue Yanagi from Kurei. Kuchibashi - They got this Madougu from Kurei's three idiotic henchmen that attacked the secret house of Kagehoushi. Its like a birds beak at the end of a chain that is capable of crushing your opponents in half whenever they get caught by it. Tetsugan - it works by swallowing it. It will give you a greyish physique that it as hard as a rock. |

| Fuuko Kirisawa is Recca's boyish childhood playmate. For ten years she tried to beat Recca in sparring but she never succeeded. She is also obsessed in beating Recca for she wants him to treat her like a princess. She got jealous when she found out that Recca's princess now is Yanagi. She finally accepted the truth and reconciled with Recca. For me Fuuko is the spice of Flame of Recca when she shows or does something erotic, she makes my blood boil (but of course she's nothin compared to Hentai goddesses). Raiha and Domon are both crazy for her. |
| Fuuko's Madougu's
Fujin - Fujin is one of the most powerful Madougu's that was ever created by the Hokage's. Fujin uses the wind to create currents (e.g. tornadoes) that can be used against the enemies. You can increase its power by placing different kinds of sphere that fits to its center (just like the sword of Yaiba Kuroganei.). Onitsume - is the Madougu they got by defeating the three idiotic henchmen of Kurei, together with the Kuchibashi. It is a spear that fits nicely to Fujin's eye (center). Kazetsume - is the combination of Onitzume and Fujin. Its effect is the razor sharp wind claws. Hikuu - it is the wind claws when detached from Fujin. Fuuko can control the Hikuu like Yamcha's (DBZ) homing fireballs Kazenetzume (im not sure) - this is the four gems that enables the Fujin to work even without any eye attached. When it is summoned, it turns into a cute cat like creature that turns into a fireball with a tremendous amount of energy. Each gem can only be used once. |

Tokiya Mikagami is the handsome but arrogant, self confident member of
the Hokage team. He is calm (i think its cold not calm), well mannered
but he doesn't get along well with any of his comrades. He witnessed
the murder of his elder sister by people looking for the Ensui 7 yrs ago.
Yanagi resembles his sister almost 100% so when he saw Yanagi he devoted his attention to protect her no matter what the cost (just like a brother who is longing for his beloved sister for a very long time). Tokiya feels that Recca and the gang are not capable of protecting Yanagi so he sticks with them. Nevertheless he became friends with them and together they fight for Yanagi's protection. |

Ensui - this is the only Madougu that Tokiya ever used. This is the Madougu that got his sister killed. The Ensui is a sword grip that can harness the water as a very sharp and very tough sword. It can gallop water and form it into a sword as much as the water in your swimming pool. When Tokiya doesn't need it anymore, the water sword just disperse from the sword grip and falls to the ground. Ensui has many other capabilities like creating mirages (Mizu Kugutsu) to fool the enemies, freezing whatever it touches (Absolute Zero), freezing the ground by stabbing the Ensui to it (Tsurara Mai) and not ot mention the Bubble Snake from the four corners of the world. All this techniques are part of the art Hyomon Ken. |

| Kaoru Koganei is a former member of the Uruha. Kaoru has a talent in solving puzzles (e.g. rubic's cube), thats why he is the one chosen by Kurei to possess the Madougu Kougan Anki. He was raised by Kurei and he believed that Kurei works for the common good. He realized Kurei's lies when they kidnapped Yanagi. Kaoru agreed to Kurei's plan believing that Yanagi wouldn't be harmed. However he saw how cruel Kurei is and he realized how evil his comrades are that he decided to leave and join Recca instead. Kaoru is the smallest but self assured member of the Hokage team. Although his the youngest and the smallest, he is one of the best among Recca and the others (almost tying up with Tokiya). Following his childish stage, Kaoru always annoy and insult everyone with his silly pranks and gestures. |

Kougan Anki - this Madougu can change itself into five different weapons (a total of six). 1st type: Kougan Anki itself 2nd type: Ryu - it is the blade, connected by chain to the other end (like Kuchibashi) enabling Kaoru to swing the the Madougu making it a long range and a hard to avoid weapon. 3rd type: Kyoko - Kougan Anki turns into a giant golden pair of scissors that can cut through almost anything. 4th type: Mekazatsu - Kougan Anki then shifts into a golden and very sharp boomerang. 5th type: An - bow and arrow, as simple as that. 6th type: (I dont know its name) it turns itself into little sharp fragments that shoots like shrapnels, cutting through the enemies flesh. |

| Kagehoushi is the mother of Recca. She is the one who sent Recca 400 yrs into the future. The forbidden spell she used to time warp Recca resulted to her immortality. Another sad thing is that she can never touch Recca till the side effects of the spell she used is not yet cured. It can be cured by destroying the most powerful Madougu ever made: the Heaven and Hell. Kagehoushi is very attractive (she still looks like a beautiful 20 yr old woman eventhough she's more than 400) and she is the one to count on in identifying Madougu's and thinking of ways to beat them. |

Eikai - Eikai lets Kagehoushi see what's happening in other places she desires. It has the ability to teleport her to anywhere she likes. |

| Ganko Morikawa is the blonde little girl with Recca and the others. Like Kaoru, she formerly belongs to Kurei's legion. Ganko's mother died a year ago and due to her longingness to be with her mom, she became obssesed with a maniquin in a local boutique that really looks like her mother One time Kurei saw her staring at the maniquin and he thought that Ganko is the perfect subject to handle the Madougu Kugutsu so he bought the maniquin and gave it to her together with the Madougu and made her one with his legions. Because of Kurei's kindness to her, she also believed that Kureiis a good guy but not until Fuuko defeated her and made her realized the evils of Kurei. |

| He is the fostering father of Recca who saw him coming out of the time portal 16 yrs. ago. He fooled Recca by telling him that his mother is the beautiful woman in the picture who already died, but actually it is just Mr. Hanabishi's favorite actress. He is a fireworks manufacturer and together with his adopted son, he lives a wacky life (just like Ranma and Genma Saotome). |

Kurei is the half brother of Recca
(read the intro
for more info). He wears a mask to cover his horrible scar that Kuranai
gave her when he turned her into his flame (in the Manga, Recca
was the one who gave him that scar when he attempted to kill Recca
when he was just a baby). Kurei only loved two persons in his life:
his real mother and Kuranai (in the Manga, he has a foster mother). Kouran
Mori raised him and exploited his hatred that's why his more cruel
than ever. Although Kurei is evil since childhood, he just needed
proper rearing to change his personality.
Kuranai is the only sweetheart of Kurei (the only one who had beaten Kurei in his entire life according to the Manga). They had fallen in love with each other but Mori saw this as a threat to Kurei's evil personality that he needs. To eliminate the threat, Mori killed Kuranai. But Kuranai's spirit was absorbed by Kurei and she became the beautiful Purple Flame Kuranai (this is the real power of Kurei, absorbing spirits and turning them into his flames) . By this she and Kurei could be together for the rest of their lives. Unlike Recca, Kurei had mastered the Sacred Flame. Kurei is my personal fav in this series (if they could only fix that scar of his, he could be more scarier). |
| Kurei's Arsenals
Kuranai - Kuranai is the beautiful Purple Flame that Kurei use as an arsenal. If Recca have the Hatchiryu, Kurei got Kuranai. Kuranai is purple and the Hatchiryu are orange. If we follow our basic scientific knowledge, we would say that Kurenai is more powerful than any of the dragons because purple is only one step closer in becoming blue compared to orange. (I'm not saying this because Kurei is my fav.). The Hierarchy of flame is yellow orange, purple and blue. Bracelets - like Recca's tekkou, he uses this bracelets to contain his flames. |

He is the fostering father of Kurei.
He is the infamous multi- millionaire tycoon, who is obsessed in finding
something that could make him immortal. In the outside world he is
known as a very rich philantropist who engage in charity projects for the
less fortunate but of course, his the opposite of what the people is believing.
Mori is hated by Kurei as much as he hates Recca. Mori is the one who planned the Urabatou Satsujin tournament to get Yanagi and to eliminate the Uruha together with his adopted son. Mori ran out of interest in Yanagi when he discovered the existence of the ultimate Madougu Heaven and Hell. |

Renge - she is the genetically engineered sister of Kurei. She is the combination of Kurei's and Kuranai's genes. She was made by Genjuroh upon the request of Mori. Although she's powerful than Kurei, Mori customized her intellect, to a 3 yr old level to avoid betrayal. |

| Mokuren is the henchman of Kurei who uses plant roots as weapons with the aid of the Kodama (his own version of naughty tentacles). He was beaten, by Recca before in Kurei's palace but he came back with a vengeance at the Urabatou Tournament. He is fond of torturing young and beautiful girls to hear their screams, then when he had enough he kills them (i wonder if he rapes them). Finally, Tokiya finished him using the Hyomon Ken when he tried to kill Kaoru. |

Kodama - this Madougu is capable of making the roots of plants grow inside your body and by it you can command the roots for whatever you desire. Making it a formidable weapon. |

| Raiha seems to be the right hand of Kurei. He is the most powerful member of the Uruha (next to Kurei of course) yet he is kind. The Uruha's may look mean, but Raiha will look gentle and calm (Raiha is a pretty boy just like Tokiya). He cares for his comrades, specially his former ally Kaoru. He saved Kaoru's life from Neon. Nevertheless, his a pro killer. He has a thing or two for Fuuko (poor Domon he doesn't stand a chance). He said that Raijin and Fujin are destined to meet and fight in the future. Upon hearing that, Fuuko became curious about it Raiha is very unpredictable. In the Anime he gave up a fight with Kurei so he didn't fought a single Hokage in the Urabatou Tournament. |

| Genjuroh is the old Genetic Engineer of the Uruha. He uses psychic surgery (as they call it) to manipulate ones body and mind. He can do almost anything from monsters to clones. He can also revise Madougus, making them more powerful (maybe his from the Hokage clan). He's mortal enemy is Kurei. They fought two battles but Genjuroh just couldn't overcome Kurei's powers. Instead of killing him, Kurei offered him to join the Uruha for he wants to learn Genjuroh's techniques. At the second part of the Urabatou Satsujin, Genjuroh admitted his plan to betray Kurei and after losing to Recca, he was killed by Neon who has feelings for Kurei. |

Mugen - This Madougu can turn people more than 10X smaller than their original size. Kotodama - it infiltrates ones mind and creates illusions that only you can see. It requires a particular magic word. |

| Neon is one of the two beautiful members of the Uruha. The sound of her voice is soothing but in fact she is one of the most cruel member of their league. She shows no mercy to anybody. If you piss her off she wouldn't take second thoughts to kill you. Neon has a thing for Kurei. She is very devoted and she shows special attention to him. This only means that despite of her cruelty, there's still a woman inside her. She has two younger sisters (unfortunately I don't know their japanese names and I have no intention of mentioning our local version of their names) that helped her in fighting the Hokage team. Neon's younger sister uses the Madougu Kotodama (god, she's so cute, if only I could meet her ^_^) and the elder uses the Yamabiko (a shield that reflects sound waves that comes from Waon. They use this as a technique to confuse the enemy) . |

Kutsu Waon - this is one of the classic weapons that uses sound waves for attacks. It uses different types of melodies (e.g. rhapsodies, ballads, symphony) to kill the enemy. |
| Jishou is the muscle man in Uruha. He is quiet and very loyal to Kurei. Unfortunately he was killed in the 3rd part of the Urabatou Satsujin Tounament. But his spirit was absorbed by Kurei and became one of his flames. This is Kurei's tribute for a very loyal subordinate. Its was not mentioned in the Anime. |

North & South knife - based in the opposite polarity of a magnet, this two knives join as one to attack the enemy. |
| Noroi is the spooky Jusshin of Kurei. He is an entity trapped inside his Madougu Bakuju, that uses dead people for his body. He can also use living people, he just have to erase their memories. He choose strong bodies for him to be used. Domon almost fell as one of his victims but he overcame Noroi's powers and defeated him for good. |

Kai is obsessed in defeating Tokiya.
It is because he is Kyoza's chosen student, until Tokiya
came. Kyoza realized that Tokiya has much more
potential than Kai, so Kyoza killed Tokiya's sister to develop his obssession
with the Hyomon Ken. Because Kai was abandoned by Kyoza, he mastered
the Hyomon Ken on his own. They are almost similar in their sword techniques
except that Kai is obviously more skilled than Tokiya
and it seems that Tokiya
doesn't stand a chance against him. But despite of Tokiya
being the underdog, he is still smarter than Kai.
At the end Kai told Tokiya that Kyoza was the one who murdered his sister then he committed suicide because he had proven for himself that Tokiya is the one who really deserves to master the Hyomon ken. |

Hyoumaen - this Madougu is the twin of Ensui. It uses moisture in the atmosphere instead of using available water to create its solid ice sword, making it more portable and much powerful than Ensui. |

| Mikoto is the other beauty of the Uruha. She is a cruel girl who has no mercy left to offer to anyone who crosses her path. She uses a mechanical doll (looks like a Kabuki Doll) as her partner in her fights. It follows all her commands making their team very formidable. She almost killed Fuuko with the Dokumashin, but Fuuko outsmarted her and she was also poisoned as Fuuko took the last Gedokugan. |
| Mikoto's Madougu's
Dokumashin and Gedokugan - the Dokumashin are ten claws attached to Mikoto's (the Doll) fingers. It has a poison (a combination of all the lethal poisons in the world) that instantly kills the enemy injured by it. Gedokugan is the antidote for the poison. It comes together with the Dokumashin so Mikoto (the girl) is the only one who has it.. |
| Joker is the mystery man in Kurei's league His face is seldom viewed. At first he makes friends with Recca but his true agenda was to kill Kaoru. However he failed to do so. He is also powerful. He never fought in the Anime. |

Taishaku - this is a huge Madougu that can changed the mass of any object. It can make soft objects hard or vice versa or it can make lite objects heavy or vice versa again. |
It is the most powerful Madougu that was ever created by the Hokage clan. It can grant the "Chosen One" immortality. If your not the chosen one, you can still be immortal but your body will decay until you become a walking skeleton. If your the chosen one however you will regain your youth and live forever young.
Upon hearing its existence Kouran Mori lost interest in Yanagi. Although there is a very large possibility that Mori might not be the chosen one (isn't it obvious ?), Recca and the gang still need to get their hands on it because destroying it will cure Kagehoushi as her beloved son had promised.
