![]() | Konnichiwa! okay, no need to explain, the title says it all. I'll start off with my friend's story. Her name is Kathie Chan and it's written by her. I absolutely loved the story that I had to put it up here. If you like her story, you can praise and worship her by emailing her at pure_angel666@hotmail.com. On with the short story! |
~GETTING INKED~I didn't say it eagerly or even like I was interested. I said plainly, simply, conversation-like, "What do you think about tattoos?" hoping that they wouldn't have much against it. ...BIG MISTAKE...Dead silence...my father, who was concentrating on carving perfect slices of meat off the turkey, was now wide-eyed and staring at me like I had told him I murdered somebody. My mother pretended not to hear, and my brother cracked a smile, knowing the outcome. Then, there was me. An invader on foreign land. Simultaneously, both my parents said, "You better not get one. Not in your life." | ![]() |
![]() | "Why not? It shouldn't matter to you what's on my body. I mean if I regret it I'll just hide it in another tattoo, or get it lasered off. Besides I'm not going to get something stupid like the name of my high school tattooed across my chest. And it's not about just getting a tattoo, it's about the design that intrigues people. It's a conversation-starter, a piece of art, and it's not ugly - it's quite nice, if you chose the right piece - like a nice butterfly. Besides, doesn't mom have her eyeliner tattooed on her? Please don't double-standard me." |
If you can imagine, I didn't say it rudely or disrestpectfully, but clearly enough so that they knew I was serious, and I didn't want them to lecture me on not getting a tattoo because in their mind it's nothing but horrible and bad, bad in some way I don't know how. | ![]() |
![]() | Maybe it's the thought of getting something different and permanent that scares them so much. Maybe it's the thought of regretfulness that sometimes(but not too often) comes after realizing what you've done. |
Oh well, I guess I'll never know why it scares them so much, but I know for sure that I'm[super-ticked] at them for looking down on me and assuming. If I can't get inked now, I decided that later in life I'll give my parental units a heart attack by becoming a tattoo artist...ahhh, the beauty of having dreams to look forward to... | ![]() |
