OVERALL RATING: 9.7
I would give this game a 10, but it lacks extras - you do get a playable demo for CAPCOM's RIVAL SCHOOLS - it is cool, but with the theme of Pocket Fighter it would have been cool to have the little extra pics, etc... Anyhow generally this is a TOTALLY COOL game!!! Some diehards might play it and let it dust over, but I am not obcessed with super ultra flash multi linked combos. Even if you are it is a fun break from the norm - it's really funny. It is also frantic in it's own way -- you still have the gems, but your power is determined by them, so if you get clobbered - you lose some and the opponent can pick them up to build their own fighting abilities - OUCH!!! If they corner you, the opponent can really stick it to you.
The music is o.k. - nothing major... I never got to play it in the arcade (or even see it), it was cool to watch the intro - the in game goofiness is cool. Chun Li has some of the most noticable - where as Ryu and Ken really don't do anything too strange. There is plenty of cool speech and character intros... as a stand alone fighting game, it intruduces some nice techniques - even with the limit to the buttons (punch, kick, and special). It should please many fans......
