Ah! My Goddess!
Ah! My Goddess' name was changed when it came to the US when the
author was told about the english expression "Oh My God!" to Oh, My Goddess!
This is a very delightful and wonderful anime for just about anyone. There's
not any violence (unless you count Skuld hitting the 'bugs' with her hammer.
Like most anime, it has a complete, and well thought out story
that explains everything in the end, but not till then! I really
think this is one of the best animes out there. It is short compared
to many other stories (Ranma 1/2, Lodass War, etc) being only
5 half-hour episodes long.
Intresting Tidbits: The three goddesses in this series (Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld) are
based on the Goddesses of Fate from Nordic Mythology. Verthande, Urthr (Urd), and Skuld
respectivlly. Since the Japanese language doesn't have any Ve or Th sounds
Verthandi became Berudandi which became Belldandy when translated to English.
Each Goddess has their own domain in time: Belldandy is present, Urd is past, and Skuld is future.
You'll notice Skuld's affinity for ice cream in the later episodes, this is explained in the manga (comics)
that at one point the goddess' power source in the heavens became cut off from them due to the bugs. At that
time, Skuld latched onto ice cream as an alternate power source.
As far as I know, the 5 OAV tapes are the only animation of the manga series.

Ah! My Goddess! OAV:
- Moonlight and Cherry Blossoms: Keichi accidently dials the Goddess Help Line
while trying to order out food. Belldandy appears and offers to grant Keichi any one
wish. Anything he wants? So Keichi wishes that a girl like Belldandy would stay with
him forever! Surprisingly, for Keichi, his wish gets approved! There's only one
problem... Keichi's dorm has strict rules...NO FEMALES ALLOWED!
- Midsummer's Night Dream: Urd, Belldandy's older sister, arrives 5 months later to
rectify the situation That NOTHING has happened between Keichi and Belldandy!
Between Urd's coaching and her potions.... Boy is Keichi in trouble!! Will Keichi
ever get to kiss Belldandy?
- Burning Hearts on The Road: Skuld, Belldandy's younger sister, has been left in the
heavens All Alone this whole time and she's LONELY, and getting overwhelmed with trying to catch
the 'bugs' from Central Control. (The bugs look like 6 legged rabbits). So, she decides
to pay Belldandy and Urd a visit. When she finds out about the contract binding Belldandy
to Keichi... She decides something must be done about it! Her sister doesn't belong
trapped on earth with a human!
- Evergreen Holy Night: The bugs are escaping Heaven and manifesting here on Earth! And what's worse,
everytime Belldandy and Keichi get close (a foot at the begining), a Bug Exhaust Port is formed.
Now Keichi can't even go near Belldandy... which suits Skuld just fine. Then, Belldandy gets a recall
notice from The Lord. When Skuld sees how sad Bell and Keichi are, she and Urd start trying to
resolve the bug problem all the more!
- For the Love of Goddess: Belldandy is slowly erasing herself and her sisters from Keichi's life...
forever. Urd and Skuld are working hard behind Bell's back for her benefit. And Keichi's working himself
ragged to fufill a promise he doesn't remember making!
